As usual an interview with The Dear Leader, that again reveals nothing other than the usual spin and lies. Repulsive individual. :bah:

I have actually tried to look at things the Thaksin way. On principal how I was brought up to believe in right and wrong, I cannot and will not give this man the praise as some are doing, Near all he stands for is wrong, Here as P.M. and using his drunken power to his and his families own ends, or control freak. And now trying to dig up hatred in Thailand(the country he loves and got rich quick in) He said before he has finished with politics, Why has he been involved in the last 2 years then ??? Look if you don't like the army/democrats.....Why the hell do you want his antics again???

The interviewer was very weak and let Thaksin run the interview....do many recall the interview with the lady from Al Jeezera....run rings around him though he did appear to drunk as a skunk

I thought the interviewer was very subtle, yet also persistent and direct enough.

She still got him to babble and stammer and obfuscate.

Exactly. She could of given more of a hard line, but would ultimately risk loosing his participation (it wasn't a live interview).

Regardless, I doubt many in the western world would find his what he offered in defense convincing in the slightest. However owing to his sheer arrogance he probably believes it was a reasonable performance.

It's gonna be sad watching this place go pop if PT win.

Not to mention the Thai Police and Military that also seem to be on her side.

I didn't realise that the military had apparently changed sides, to supporting PTP/Yingluck, rather than the oft-repeated Red-Shirt line that they're planning a coup ? B)

That's news to me as well, maybe the view from Australia is a little different. :whistling:

^^^ It's all a problem of perception.

I give you the reports of a reputable international organization. You reply statistic can't be trusted.

You ask me to call Mr Manson. I reply why should I trust a disgruntled ex business associate. Why don't you also bring Prachai Leophai-ratana ? An other bankrupt businessman and great supporter of the PAD. With Sondhi, they all have something in common : they all went bankrupt and then blame Thaksin for not bailing them out. Fine people indeed.

Please read what I wrote --- my quotes are from your sources and they said that you cannot use year on year comparisons ... and that what was being measured was perception and not reality and only in the public sector. I didn't reply the statistic can't be trusted .. I quoted your source that stated that year on year comparisons were not valid. I also pointed out your flawed argument about the airport, particularly in light of discussing transparency and corruption. Finally, I pointed out a statement from private sector business that had to compete with Thaksin's company while he was PM. Please note that it is not me but the Thai courts that stated Thaksin was still in control of his businesses whilst PM .. and that he changed laws to benefit his company over the competition.

William Monson is the man's name. The other people are not an issue.

You do realize that you are rooting for a man convicted of corruption (abuse of power) that has scads of other corruption cases lined up against him ..... Yeah -- it is about perception management :) I do business in Thailand and certainly am more comfortable with the Dems running things than I was when Thaksin was running things. Looking at his behavior since he was ousted only makes me a more ardent believer that Thaksin himself is bad for Thailand.

For the continual posters of 'convicted criminal' I hope you won't have any qualms when a Thaksin installed judiciary finds AV & Suthep guilty of murder.

A Thaksin installed judiciary!- that's far away, and with Parliamentary privilege, neither Apisit or Suthep have anything to fear.

The videos of Thaksin, Nattawut, Jatuporn inciting the red shirts to acts of violence and terrorism will not fade away.

Neither will the videos of Abhisit's snipers still shooting after they'd been ordered to stop because the unarmed protester had already been killed!

I'm still unconvinced army snipers were entirely responsible for red shirt deaths.

But after fortifying the CBD in global metropolis for two months solid, then burning surrounding buildings down while making your retreat, all things considered you guys got off pretty lightly.

Get over it.

When Thaksin was PM, approximately 80 muslims died of suffocation in Tak Bai when the army stacked them on top of each other like logs on trucks for the journey to the army camp several hours away

The courts said no-one in the army was guilty because under The State Of Emergency securiy forces were exempt from prosecution.

There was no attempt to prosecute the PM, Thaksin, it was an army matter.

I suggest the same situation holds true for last year's riots and insurrection by the reds.

First Thaksin would have to return to Thailand, serve his jail-sentence & complete the rest of his court-cases, then change his mind about having "quit politics", and instruct his party to kick-out his sister and re-install himself, before he can start appointing a judiciary. How many years do you envisage this taking ?

In the ABC interview, Thaksin described himself as politically inexperienced when he became PM.

That was after getting into politics in 1994 and becoming Foreign Minister, DPM in 1996 and then starting up his own party in 1998.

Compare that to Yingluck, who in 5 weeks could become PM with ... NO ... previous political experience.

How does a PM deal with international politics without any political experience?

Where is the problem? She will not be alone, but will work with a team.

It would be worse if she would have never done anything else than be a politician.

I dont see a problem either, as you said she will have a team of politicians to work with and guide her. She will also have a brother who led the country and is now very experienced to also guide her with the dealings within Thailand and Internationally. Not to mention the Thai Police and Military that also seem to be on her side.

great......................a family business then.................should be nice and hard to uncover the extortion, lies and corruption with the "Shinawatra royal family" all covering for each other.

Precisely - and thinking this way doesnt make you a yellow shirt OR a Democrat - just someone whos against corruption and unpleasant people running countries - there is probably no one in the world more unpleasant than Thaksin Shinawatra. I cant ote or have a say in how Thailand is run, but I CAN tell people I cant stomach corruption on the scale that Thaksin takes everywhere he goes!!

I do tend to be a critic of not the normal good way of governance, since the overthrow of Thaksin, I do not see fantastic changes going on here in Thailand, as I believe military intervene too much and the final say seems to come from them rather than Abhisit, but there still is a more comfortable feeling about Abhisit being there. Granted he and everyone HAS to put up with the BABY crying I want him back brigade(heaven help us) with the election trying to flow along the normal lines, we have these non stop outside mega interference whipping up huge problems cause they want their own way again. All I can say is get back to the medieval burning , looting, and bringing the country to a standstill, over the """I want power again""" AND """We want our vote money man back for more whiskey.

I do believe if it was impossible to bribe and pay for votes Thai people would take more interest in the elections....This Thaksin way is preventing that. Issan people will do anything for money(not all) girls and boys in Pattaya, kids with grandmother, Get what you can attitude by any means the folks here are easily whipped up into a frenzy especially when free money is thrown-free transport and food provided ( HEY do us a favour go and disrupt BKK for a while (peacefully) HaHA
