Hi, just wanted to see if anyone would have some information for me.

Usually when i go to thailand, i get a year long non-immigrant visa. This year though, i've been living in australia which isn't my home country and i'll be traveling to thailand from there (well to japan and then through KL) I've been informed by the thai consulate here that i can't apply for a non-immigrant visa here and i have to do it from my home country (canada). And i'm not really prepared to pay a couple thousand just to fly back to get a visa! haha.

So i was just wondering what my options were for staying a year on tourist visas?? I've heard you can get a 60 day visa with another 30 day extension from laos and can get that one a few times....is that true?? I see i can apply for non-immigrent visas in some of these countries...but they looks like marriage visas, and i'm not married so that's doesn't seem like it's an option.

anyway, thanks for any help or info you can give me!

On what basis have you obtained a non immigrant O visa in the past? Are you over age 50? If not and not married suspect you would not obtain anywhere under current requirements.

You likely can obtain a two or three entry tourist visa and that could cover up to almost 270 days with extensions. One more trip for a tourist visa could cover the year.

no i'm 30. I train muay thai, and was able to get a B class visa with just a letter from my gym stating i was training muay thai and studying thai culture. it seems the requirements differ depending on the consulate.

can i just come to thailand on a regular 30 day tourist visa and then go to laos and get that type of visa there? or would i have to apply for it before i left? i have a feeling the australian consulate isn't going to be to helpful..considering they don't answer my emails.

Non response to email is not a good indicator - most Thai organizations place a very low priority on them. It would be much better to have a tourist visa (30 days is not a tourist visa) as airline is likely to require onward ticket within 30 days if you do not have. Yes you can obtain in Laos or Cambodia or Malaysia if you get here.

It might be worth a try in Australia for the tourist visa all they can do is say no.

yeah if i could do it here it would be better. but they have closed the consulate in perth and they don't respond to my emails...so it doesn't seem like it's going to be easy. their website doesn't give alot of info on the visas either

You might try Brisbane as it is an Honorary Consulate so often more responsive. They have forms downloadable from there website.

yeah i'll shoot them and email...i've been emailing the embassy

just wondering if i do decide to get my visa from KL. Can i get a double entry tourist visa there or just a single entry? I've been looking around, but all the information i've been getting is from a couple years ago
