Hi Guys,

Im new at using Macbook Pro , Changed from Windows to Apple a week ago , Bought the new 13 inch Macbook Pro . I noticed that my batterry only charge til 95 % it used to be 100% but now it can only charge up to 95%

i googled and some says the batt is a problem and some says its normal nothing to worry about.

Any comments on this ?

The battery on mine has always shown between 95 and 100 and used it just over 1 year now.Hardly ever use it off the charger but when i do the battery life seems very strong.I too worried about it when i first bought it.

Thanks for the replies , im a new mac user :) changed from PC to Mac after many many years basically is not an easy task . Lots of confusions , i called apple care and they ask me to do battery calibration, and finally its working now at 100% but the battery health is at 99%.

Apple care said if it falls below 80% health they will change it for free :)

I've only had my MPB for a couple of months and thought about the same issues. Mine normally drops to around 97% when plugged in and fully charged. I checked a few forums and it looks like this is pretty normal. Just follow the calibration procedure every so often to keep it in good shape.

I wouldn't even bother with calibration. Just use it, and if it's at less than 80% capacity, take it to the nearest Apple dealer and have it changed free of charge.

Get the extended 3 year AppleCare warranty so you're covered for 3 years.

I did this with my MBP 17". Battery was fine under very heavy use for 2 years, then it fell to 76% and became unreliable; swiftly exchanged under warranty for a brand new one. which is still on 96% after 160 charge cycles. Pretty impressive, actually, compared to older battery technology.

Hi all

My battery is doing well now, as some suggested to use it as it is, Apple also advice me to bring it to their store should the battery fall down to 80% and below , Free exchange :)

@nikster ive downloaded the istatpro and its a very helpful widget , get to check my MBP stats from time to time

Nikster just to clarify for others without the extended 3 years warranty. Can you purchase this extra 3 years anytime within the 1st year or purchasing the MBP ? I haven't got mine yet.

Yes, as long as you are still within the one year warranty period you can purchase Apple Care for MBP. Be sure to purchase the right one though as they differ (price) depending on your model of Macbook.
