"999" is government bus.

The approx 600 is for super-vip.

Seats are like business class on flights.

Why not tell people the dates that are important to you and see if any one is driving up. split the petrol

good idea going to phuket 8th december samui then back to samui 17th december split petrol no problem and we will only have hand luggage go not sure on the way back?

Cheers

Check both "999" bus and Sombat bus.

In Chaweng both are located left side between the PTT station and Lamdin traffic light. (if coming from lamai direction)

I and wife drove to Phuket last month and I would have taken someone there with me FOC of course. However, will not go there in December.

Can't understand the split the petrol costs. That's a ridiculous quarter tank only (more than 375 btw)

If young guys with little money want to explore the world, that's quite ok...

I have a great idea, so young people can explore the world YOU pay their fare, or is that as daft as splitting petrol, or you could even make a special trip, take people you have never met

and subject yourself to a 4 hour trip with someone who talks rubbish for hour after hour F O C of course. or was the split the petrol a reasonable thing to suggest?

sure, I pay their fare, the splitting part here, as others did when I hitchhiked throughout Europe when I was young....

Since the Bali flight leaves Phuket Airport at 06.45, you also need to factor in the cost of an overnight stay in Phuket, since I'm fairly sure that the bus from Samui does not run during the night.

- just pointing out an important fact to consider

Just about to mention exactly the same thing. Plenty of hotels around Phuket airport, all around 1.000,-THB for the night. Most places will offer free transfers between airport and hotel.

Upon returning from Bali, you will have to either spend another night in Phuket, since I would expect the Samui bound buses to have left by the time you arrive back, so getting a room for two nights is almost a must by bus or one night a room if you fly.

With a Samui resident card you get 20% off on your BKK air flight to Phuket. Otherwise looks like bus is your best option.

YEP thats why we are going the day before only looking at round £15 - £20 a night anyway so might get there two or three days before to have a look around last time there was 2001..As for traveling the world with little money that is not the case here but criticizing someone that has made a suggesting is wrong we all have are different options of getting around and sorry to hear Birdman and badwig that you's are not young anymore but i only 44 and disabled and still feel young pmsl i have spent a lot of the last 4 years traveling with my wife who is 40 and she has made a lot of cash from buying and selling Balinese jewellery so she wants to go and see the guy she buys it off and why not its better than £1600 flights from the uk and not a 18 hour flight to. we may just buy a motorbike once in thailand as we will be there for 6 months then give it to a local.

Cheers for all your comments and bus it is, as i wouldn't like to do it on a bike lol then again maybe a nice week tour as we are see young enough to see the place you wouldn't on a bus

fly from samui to phuket airport. the cost of driving would probably work out the same as flying ferry plus gas.

or u could spend 5 hrs on a bus for cheaper but is it really worth it.

for abou 2500 baht u can be there in 30 mins from samui airport

if i can fly to Bali cheaper than flying to phuket from samui then i would rather get the bus out of principle plus the adventure 1,450 to bali from phuket and 2.090 back samui tp phuket return 5.000?

For me it's the convenience of flying, I don't want or can't afford to lose a day in a bus, so the price for flying to Phuket and back with a Samui resident card is fine for me.

If I would have the time, I would opt for a bus as well.

If there is a direct bus from Samui to Phuket airport for 600 THB it may be well worth it. Using regular Samui-Phuket buses (390 THB) is inconvenient since the airport is located in North Phuket, some 45 km from Phuket town. It is actually on the way of the buses from/to Samui but the problem is that you need to know where to get off the bus (not too difficult, just ask the driver) or where to catch it from along the main highway (a bit more difficult) and also how to get from that point to the airport that is some 4km away. Otherwise you are for the 90km unnecessary round journey on Phuket island.

Thank's we have to do some home work once they in September, even if we go to patong phuket for a couple of days then go from there by taxi to the airport

Couple of days over there sounds a good idea. Don't forget to factor in the near 1k Baht taxi fare to the airport from Patong.

Yeah I've used them. You will be bussed at 100mph to Nathon...wait an hour or so then get on the ferry. Transferred to a dusty restauant stop where you will wait a couple of hours before being taken to Phuket.

The vehicle taking you to Phuket will depend on the number of passengers travelling that day...so expect a minivan ride. You will likely arrive at around 5pm.

I can still remember the ladyboy sitting next to me with fondness...almost as much as the crunch in my back as I made my way to the taxi rank.

Have a nice trip! smile.gif

Edit:: 330 baht eh? I must speak to my director of operations....ermm.giftongue.gif
