I applied for and got a 60-day visa from the Thai embassy in China. I have the big sticker stuck in my passport, but it has no expiration date on it. ...just the "enter before" date (which is weird).

I just took a look at my entry date stamp. Where it says "visa class" the immigration person hand wrote "30."

Entry date is 1 May 2011

Under that the stamp says...

ADMITTED ...............

UNTIL.......................

Signed......................

Stamped on those lines is the date 30 May 2011.

It looks like the person who stamped me in ignored the visa I already had and only gave me 30 days.

If that's the case, my visa has already expired!

Anybody come across something like this in the past?

Thanks,

Ryan

The utilize before date is the expiry date.

It sometimes happens that people get the wrong stamp and it is easily corrected at Bangkok immigration. They have a special desk for corrections there.

But the question is if it is indeed a mistake, the lenght of a tourist visa depends also on your nationality. You name suggest a western country, in that case 60 days should be the norm.

Thanks Mario!

I'm American, and I got the visa before entering the country specifically because I wanted to get a 60-day, not a 30-day visa on arrival. I'm sure it's a mistake.

Looks like I'm going back to Bangkok. :(

Thanks again!

Did you put the visa number on the arrival card this seems to be the problem for most people forgetting this little detail
