Relatives Iraqi war victims to raise judicial case against former President Bush

ANBAR, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Relatives of the victims of the U.S. military operations in west Iraq announced on Thursday that they intend to initiate a judicial case against former U.S. President George W. Bush, who ordered the Iraqi occupation in 2003.

According to the Aswat al-Iraq news agency, relatives of the victims claimed that the U.S. troops killed innocent citizens in the western province of Anbar and are striving to initiate judicial proceedings.

Najim al-Mohammady, a resident of Falluja city and also known as the "Father of Martyrs," told Aswat al-Iraq that he lost five of his sons in battles in 2004. He alleged that U.S. soldiers terrorized innocent citizens and killed them.

"There isn't a single house in Anbar whose family has not lost a martyr or two, along with thousands of peoples lost, due to U.S. President George Bush's decision," stressed Mohammady. "We have decided to raise a judicial case against the former American President."

Reportedly, hundreds of citizens gathered in order to assign a number of lawyers in the case. The decision came after citizens became enraged when a U.S. official demanded the Iraqi Parliament to pay compensations for the U.S. military campaign which began in 2003. The U.S. government has said that the official's remarks were his personal opinion, however.

"The U.S. demanded Iraq to pay compensations for their soldiers, who occupied Iraq, destroyed its institutions and killed its innocent people," told a Ramadi citizen to Aswat al-Iraq.

Yassin Khamis, a resident of Anbar's Ramadi, added that in the battles between U.S. soldiers and insurgents in 2005 and 2006, he lost two of her sons who were killed inside their house in northeast Ramadi.

The victim's relatives will also raise a judicial case against officials of the Iraqi government who took power after 2003 and, despite being allegedly aware of the alleged atrocities in west Iraq, did nothing in fear of losing their posts.

The citizens also called for Anbar officials and humanitarian organizations to support their efforts to raise a judicial case against Bush. Sabah al-Zuba'e, Chairman of the al-Amal Organization, said the case could proceed as the killings were perpetrated by soldiers under orders of their Commands, led by the former President.
