Hello All,

that's my status and situation

Holding a non-O visa and support and look after my son.

Thai National, 12y. I was not married

Right now I am unemployed.

Visaextension was cancelled today due to termination

of employment. Got a 15day extension at Suan Phlu-

with "must leave the country..."

With 400.000 in Bank another extension is possible?

Has the money to be transferred from abroad?

Anyway where can I find the exact

visa regulations for a "dependent/support visa"

Did not find anything about a single foreign father -

except for married couples and their children.

Even Suan Phlu was not sure what to do in my case

What would be the best visa solution?

Thanks for an advise.

Application for further stay for an alien father or mother to support children who are Thai Citizen

Required Documents

Immigration form 7

A copy of passport

A 4 cm. X 6 cm. Photograph

1,900 baht application fee

Evidence indicating the parental status; birth certificate or a judical Custody order of the child

Evidence presenting financial status:

Bank pass-book, bank statement certifying amount of money in the applicant's account, a certified documents of money transferring from oversea or evidence of income with related documents

A record of interviewing the applicant

The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask for additional documents if necessary

In most cases, the request will not be approved if the alien parents sponsor an adopted child who is a Thai citizen

I believe in recent experience a judical custody order of court has been required. The above is taken directly from Immigration web site at

At age 55 you should be able to obtain a multi entry O visa if you are not currently able to obtain an extension of stay. Both the birth certificate and/or a bank baht account of 200k is usually acceptable at Penang. These do require 90 day visa trips but no address reports.

Thanks a lot for the responses so far -

To be on the safe side - what documents actually do they like to see in Penang. Any experiences with that?

Based on my sons birth certificate I will be able to apply for 1y Non-O multiple.

Is that correct?

I believe they will honor the birth certificate as they do a marriage certificate as proof you need access to Thailand for family visits. They also seem to issue for retirement to those without the normal extension requirements with a presentation of a bank account of 200k in a Thai bank. Hopefully someone who has recently done either of these two options will add to this thread.

Lopburi, I was wondering, does webfact, given his age, also have the option of applying at Immigration, within the 15 days he is now still permitted to stay, for a change of his current non-O visa to a non-O visa for the purpose of retirement. Obviously with the disadvantage of a higher amount of funds (800K) required by comparison with non-O for support of Thai child.

800k in a bank account for retirement extension of stay is an an option if available and work not going to be an issue - but he seems to need work and the retirement extension will not allow that.

Right! I forgot about that. How silly of me, more so since earlier today I took a note for myself of this difference when comparing non-O for support of Thai wife versus non-O for retirement. (I must be getting old, short-term memory weakening :o )
