Sukhumvit Area Soi 11 Newly Built Laundry For Hotel Has Allot Of Smoke And Smells Like Raw Tobacco

need to check the air quality safety from the spewing smoke or steam from the newly built Laundry for the Ambassador hotel, which was relocated and created on top of one of their buildings near soi 13.

The setup looks like four water filled condensers that spin all the time, and probably cool the building?

I would like to have the air checked.

Please I would appreciate just factual info from your experience and if you don't know for sure, the agency names, and numbers and or address.

If you have experience with the Thai Government agency that handles something similar to the Environmental Protection Agency or something of that nature.Of course the Juristic office of my Condo told us to complain to the hotel of the smoke or steam or the smell. Instead of saying maybe we can help you find out if the air is safe for the Condo co owners.

Thanks in advance for your experience in this matter.

Do they do dry cleaning?

Might be tetrachloroethylene or some other chlorinated solvent. :bah:

That would be the Pollution Control Department - PCD. There's a link to the complaint process in the middle of the page.

I have worked with them, and they are effective and dedicated.

Good luck.

if the prevailing winds are from the south, then you'll also be getting smells of the Thai Tobacco Monopoly about 500m away!

thank you for that info,

we will give them a try,

as for the question about the dry cleaning,

I am sure they do,

it is industrial laundry for the Ambassador,

huge,

that is why they moved and built from scratch,

they probably do everything.

as for the smell of tobacco,

I don't know, but I think you might be right,

I face West, and even though the rain was coming down

hard, the smell was strong and the steam or smoke was

heavy, I took video on iphone to save.

thanks again

I live on Soi 13 also, in the same Condo, on the 16th floor facing all that from the Ambassador and it is not only the smells and steam, its also the droning noise of it constantly together with the slipping of belt drives but as much as we would like to complain, I know for sure nothing will ever get done about it because remember, Ambassador own most of the top of Soi 11 and 13, and they seem to do what ever they wish. They owned Trendy previously too. Much better for the street would be to complete the Regent eyesore and clear the Soi of the smells at the top end from the dirty disgusting street bar and its free-flowing river of pee every night.

thanks for your reply and feedback, however,

since coming here five years ago,i have been told, since retiring here,

that I should not waste my breath about anything,

and since that is not my nature,

they had a Nigerian bar move downstairs next to Pool 13, threatening people downstairs, making noise all hours til the morning, we took it to the police and nothing happen,

everyone said don't waste your breath, nothing will happen,

we took it to Juristic and the Committee,

and they were very serious about the problem and

they moved to Sukhumvit suite,

then the Security was whistling all hours day and night,

when we told them about it,

saying that all the hotels use flashlights instead of whistles,

the Manager got them to use flashlights,

but everyone told me, don't waste your breath,

no one will do anything about it,

but it was fixed,

next the restaurant on soi 11, was blasting the music til late,

everyone said, don't waste your breath,

management would not help,

but I simply explained the situation to the owner,

showed them how loud it was and after a few months, it was fixed,

I wrote about it here and got such angry, negative, why don't you move attitude, very negative and abusive at times, however, this is the only place I can use for help for things that as a farang, i need to find out.

Also in this condo they used to turn off the jacuzzi til 4pm, we got them to put in timers,

same with steam and sauna,

We got them to put in the lobby a cart, like they have for luggage in hotels and other condos,

we were told, don't waste your breath, no one can get them to do it,

but little by little things are getting done,

so please try and get involved,

we are now getting a petition to get security to put in a better system like a glass door with a

card like in elevators, so only residents can get into the elevator, and building and gym area,

and cameras,

again we were told don't waste your breath,

but again people are getting involved with

things that can make life better for all.

Same with short time rentals,

which according to an article was illegal in Thailand, people

not pay taxes, not having permit and not using the condo legit

and making money on the backs of the condo,

that one will take time,

the Commerce dept. is investigating and reported to the land office,

again, we were told don't waste your breath,

yet they are coming to investigate all the illegal activities here,

it is better for the Condo and the country to take a stand on issues that

we can fix, and accept those we cannot.

Same like the serenity prayer.

I hope more people would take a stand and get involved with these issues instead of just saying, don't waste your breath.

Thanks again for the feedback and please get involved in fixing some of the problems, I had my apartment soundproofed these last six weeks, and exhaust fans in the ceiling. that was something that took two years of attempting to get a contractor, but the manager found one for me and they did a heck of a job. now when the short time agent puts some farang that is loud and smelly and does not care about anyone but themselves, I can not hear or smell them.

Good For you Nycboy57

I got the same response when we had a few problems in our condo "don't wast your time the management wont do anything"

We had a Bad soi dog problem maybe 15-20 dogs.

One day a pack tried to attack me but I manged to get to safety before anything happened.

I complained to the "Security" they said the dogs come here because the maintenance and cleaning ladies feed them every day.

I asked the building supervisor to stop allowing the dogs inside the compound nothing was done.

He mentioned the Dogs were the maintenance and cleaning ladies pets even so far as to point out that they had collars on them.

Eventually I gathered a petition with 30 other tenants in the building and presented it to the management at the monthly meeting and was assured the dogs problem would be seen to.

The management informed maintenance and cleaning ladies under no curcunstances they were to allow or feed any animals on the condo property and if and Dogs were seen inside the condo grounds while they are on duty they would be fired on the spot.

the next day all the dogs were rounded up by a dog catcher and shipped off to a Temple up country..

So I say good on you too many people roll over and take it This may be Thailand but it dose not mean we need to get shafted all the time.

That is great and thanks for sharing that and the positive feedback. Sure things seem overwhelming at times, and difficult to get done. I heard they have a new manager for Juristic and went down to the office to meet with him.

He seemed standoffish type and I spoke with the Asst. Manager until the New Manager finally came past and I said hello and introduced myself.

They have an email address that I have been sending pictures to for about a year, and even though there is no one on the Committee that actually lives here full time, they prefer not having any farang or anyone that lives here. I discussed a few things with him and he said he was reading the notes and would not give me his personal number as the former manager did.

That is ok, we are trying to make positive changes here for the better of us all and that takes time.Again congratulations on the handling of your Condo and the dog situation. Job Well done and would love to see more people be happy for people that do positive things here and in the world instead of looking for the bad in everyone and condemning people that open their hearts to others here online. Well done and keep up informing us of your accomplishments.
