After voting, my wife and I stopped by a restaurant we had never been to before. Seeing a farang they were only too happy to give me their special "English" menu. No, I'm not going to complain about the prices. They were the same as on the Thai menu surprisingly enough. Sadly, the staff could not understand what I wanted when I tried to order. I only asked for what they had written.

I ordered:

1. Chicken cooks the mango

2. Horse crab cooks the whore dust

My wife, wanting to play with them as much as I and being more adventurous than me, (and let me see if I can remember this because it is not a dish I was familiar with) ordered:

3. Boil the house name the land of menstruation young Chinese

After several attempts reciting these names clearly printed on the menu, we gave up and ordered by number. It is quite clear the staff was never going to get it.

Be warned, if you own a restaurant and are going to use Google translate on your menu, at least train your staff on how to recognize the dishes.

BTW, the horse crab cooks the whore dust actually wasn't bad.

You may be more familiar with it by its Thai name:

ปูผัดผงกะหรี่ (Boo-pat-pong-garee)

Otherwise called crab in curry sauce. Whore dust is so much more vivid, don't you think? I'll never be able to order it again without making that association.

It means that a lady of the night has run off with your wallet and valuables, as in you won't see the " Lady for dust ".

Love it!!

DId you get a picture? If not, where is this place? Worth visiting for the menu along.

BTW, I think Greg above called it accurately for the second dish. The first one, of course, is Chicken & Cashew nuts.

Third one.. have to think about that a little more. ;)

If I give Google translate ปูผัดผงกะหรี่, it comes out as Fried crab with curry powde. Now I am really wondering what did they feed into Google Translate to get that "whore dust" :whistling:

Maybe forgot to put in the Fried & curry powder bit and just put in "crab"s......... Crabs = whore dust....could see that connection....... ...a polite term for an STD

ga-ree in Thai means "prostitute" in addition to a curry; many Thais will giggle when ordering it.

Ahh, the good old Patpong curried crabs. Would you like ping pong balls with that?

So make sure one is already in company with a woman when ordering this.

If not, one might be surprised.

Supliiiise.

Unfortunately no. I wasn't prepared at all. Didn't even have my phone with me.

I'll have to go back there one day and get a complete listing. The entertainment of reading the menu was worth the price of the meal.

If anyone else cares to go check it out, it is the "Issan Seafood" restaurant about 200 meters down the main road from Rangsit University.

Doesn't seem like Google Translate is particularly dangerous?

ปูผัดผงกะหรี่ Thai to English translation Fried crab with curry powder. Maybe not an ideal translation but hardly dangerous?

Goofing on restaurant workers is not a bright thing to do as those of us who've worked in a restaurant can attest. Although whore dust might be better than some of the other additives?
