French writer Banon to sue former IMF head Strauss-Kahn for attempted rape

PARIS (BNO NEWS) -- French writer and journalist Tristane Banon on Monday announced she will file a lawsuit against former International Monetary Fund (IMF) head Dominique Strauss-Kahn over attempted rape allegations.

According to Radio France Internationale (RFI), Banon's lawyer, David Koubbi, said his client will begin legal action against Strauss-Kahn for a 2002 alleged sexual assault during an interview.

Banon, a young journalist then, went to interview him in 2002 and Strauss-Kahn allegedly sexually assaulted her. She, however, did not file charges against him as her mother persuaded her not to do so.

In 2007, Banon disclosed the incident during a French television program. Koubbi said that the lawsuit was not filed earlier as his client did not wish in any way to be involved in the U.S. case.

Last Friday, Strauss-Kahn was released on house arrest after New York prosecutors told a Manhattan judge that the credibility of the alleged victim was in serious question, as reported by the NY Times.

Strauss-Kahn, 62, was accused of forcing a 32-year-old hotel maid at the Sofitel New York Hotel to perform oral sex on him twice before engaging in anal sexual conduct with her. He also grabbed the victim's breasts and vaginal area.

However, the housekeeper admitted to prosecutors that she lied about the encounter on the NY hotel. Defense lawyers said the sex was consensual as she acknowledged cleaning another room before reporting the incident.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the alleged victim lied in her application form requesting asylum from Guinea. In the document, she also alleged being a victim of a gang rape in her native country.

Due to the legal proceedings, Strauss-Kahn submitted his resignation as Managing Director of the IMF. Last week, the body's Executive Board selected Christine Lagarde as his replacement; the first woman to be appointed to the post.

Hahaha.

So, over to you anti-female, DSK-supporting posters....what do you say about this ?

This guy is a controversial figure. Somebody clean and strong should run against Sarkozy in the Presidential Elections. And, the French socialists are STILL thinking of having this guy run against Sarkozy...beats me !
