QUETTA, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- A roadside bomb targeting Pakistan's Frontier Corps killed at least five people after it detonated and struck a convoy, officials said Wednesday.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday in the Gomazi area, of Tump, which is located in the southwestern province of Balochistan, some 85 kilometers (53 miles) from Turbat, when a Frontier Corps convoy of six vehicles was heading towards Mand near the Iran border, the Express Tribune reported.

Five people died immediately at the scene while five others were reportedly injured, and according to local residents, Frontier Corps personnel arrested two people to carry out interrogations.

Terrorist group Baloch Liberation Front has claimed responsibility of the attack through its spokesperson Doda Baloch, who said such attacks would continue until "Balochistan is liberated."

Frontier Corps Balochistan Inspector General Ubaidullah Khan condemned the attack, stating that such attacks would not stop the federally-backed paramilitary group in its mission to help security forces establish order in the region. The Inspector General added that investigations were currently underway.
