Dutch stadium roof collapses, trapping people

ENSCHEDE, NETHERLANDS (BNO NEWS) -- A part of the roof of a football stadium under renovation in the Netherlands collapsed on early Thursday afternoon, emergency services said, trapping an unknown number of people.

The collapse happened at around noon local time when a portion of the stadium's roof collapsed. It happened at De Grolsch Veste, the stadium of football club FC Twente in Enschede, a city close to the border with Germany.

It was not immediately clear how many people were trapped.
