Right To Consular Notification For Detained Foreign National

A Mexican is executed in US today , he was not told he could have access to Mexican consular officials,in violation if International law. Do you think its a good precedent or not ? Will it affect the citizens of US living in Thailand?

It appears that both Presidents Bush and Obama tried to apply this law but their efforts were rejected by the judiciary.

Nope ---- There is no special statement in the "Miranda" warnings compelling a US State to advise a foreign national of the right to foreign consular services at the time of arrest. Federal prisoners would get different treatment. I don't see how this would affect Yanks in Thailand at all.

On the specific case, it looks like a last ditch effort at this stage.

On the principle of Consular notification, yes the right should be there to notify your embassy / consulate, but as to whether it effects the fact you have broken local laws is another issue.
