Just got a phone call from a mate staying at White Sand Resort on Lamai beach telling me that the Thai owner of the restaurant on the main road nearly opposite the entrance to White Sand and Amity resorts was shot and killed by the owner of the motorcycle repair shop next door to the restaurant.

Supposedly happened a month ago but could have been earlier.

Iv'e known Pete for ten years and always ate there when staying at Lamai. A good bloke.

I'll be deeply saddened if the rumour is true.

Has anybody here heard or read anything about it?

Yes, it is true mate, happened about a month ago.

Pete was a bit of a character and a local identity,

Pete and the guy next door have been at each other for a number of years now and it is very sad it ended this way.

He was shot 6 times on the steps leading to his restaurant.

The police have got the guy that did it so hopefully he will be spending plenty of time in the monkey house.

June has reopened the restaurant again and is doing well but eating at his restaurant will not be the same.

The food of course, is as delicious as always but all of us regulars will miss Pete's humour and general banter.

As you say, very, very sad.

Directly opposite the entrance to the old Nice 2 Resort (where CP is on the corner).

Very sad. I heard about it shortly after it happened. Have been in to see Jun and good that she has re-opened the restaurant and her sons are helping. She is an amazing cook, great Thai food.
