THE PRESIDENT OF BLIND ASSOCIATION OF THAILAND DEMANDS FOR AMENDMENT OF LAWS FOR THE BLINDS

The President of the Thailand Association of the Blind has requested the government to amend the law on identification cards for blind people so that they would be able to show their national identities. The blinds would also be able to manage other legal activities.

Mr. MONTIAN BOONTAN (มณเฑียร บุญตัน), the President of Thailand Association of the Blind, stated that October 15th has been designated as the International White Cane Safety Day. This year, the association has conducted a blind rally at the underground train routes to show the potential of blind people and to increase their capability of using the walking sticks.

The President has also requested the government to establish more education institutes for blind people in order to educate them and will help them in finding jobs. He remarked that there are many restrictions for blind people in the Thai society.
