And the next KTM bike in India would be KTM Duke 350 that is claimed to be launched by 2013. Both the bikes will be developed and marketed by the joint venture of Bajaj and KTM. There is no details of the KTM Duke 350 price in India and neither for the KTM Duke 200 price.

Austrian sports bike maker KTM today said it would launch its first motorcycle, jointly developed with Bajaj Auto Ltd, in India at the Auto Expo to be held in the capital early next year.

The company, in which Bajaj Auto holds a 40% stake, had already launched its first co-developed bike in Europe in March this year.

"During the Delhi Auto Expo next year, we will be launching the first 200-cc Duke bike in India," Cross Industries AG CEO and also the CEO of KTM Sportmotorcycle AG, Stefan Pierer, told reporters here.

Bajaj who will joint-venture with KTM is an interesting company - a range of their own bikes, as well as Kawasaki Ninja 250R and 650R;

Of course, India is not an Asean member. Moreover, the goal of tariff-free motorbikes only applies to those under 250cc.

Doubtless the engine capacities will go up with less tax as soon as highways are built to support safer speed. Police will have to have latest radar and cameras too and tea money will take on a new meaning.:whistling:

I read about the same but more on a ASEAN level, KTM has clearly moved to a single-cylinder high performance 250cc engine... The whole 200 and 350cc idea was deleted as marketing demands are different... a 350cc would never compete on price with a Japanese motorcycle, a 200cc will not even compete to a Japanese build 250 or a Chinese 200cc on price or performance...

How much KTM dna is actually in those bikes?

While my understanding is that Bajaj makes fine bikes for the Indian, and other emerging markets, who would want to pay a premium for a re-plasticed bike (but than again GMC is still around...)?

^ I wondered that too, presume that on basis Bajaj also'make' Kawasaki Ninja 250R and 650R, it may be a similar set up to the Kawasakis 'made' here in Thailand, difference is that Bajaj are shareholders, making them under licence.
