Visa Options

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I really hope you can help with this query. I have done lots of reading of the official Consulate site and forums, but I'm still confused about my best option visa-wise for my trip to Thailand.

My boyfriend and I (me 24, him 25, both UK passport holders) are flying from London to Bangkok on 26 October, we plan to stay in Bangkok a couple of days then head towards Cambodia and see Vietnam and Laos. We are hoping to re-enter Thailand a month/a month and a half later at the Huay Xai-Chiang Khong river crossing border. From there we want to spend another month travelling down Thailand and island hopping.

It looks to me that we will be able to get our visa exemption upon entry at Bangkok, and then I'm wondering if we would be best off buying a one-entry tourist visa at our second entry - can we buy these visas at the river border, or will we only be able to get 15 days upon re-entering?

Your help and advice is really appreciated.

Katie

as much as i understood, u wanna enter the country more than one time per a visa validity time?. yes u get 15 days by river landing. id suggest u to get a multiple visa. each entries helps u to get into the country less hassled.

if you plan fly from Bangkok to Phnom Phen, buy a one way ticket by AirAsia .... this allow you fly with a one way ticket fm UK to Bangkok. Fm Phnom Phen take the cheap Bus (approx. 220'000 VND) to HCMC. Once arrived in Vietntiane / Lao, ask for tourist Visa in Thai Embassy, usual easy to get it and you are quiet for your 1 - 1 1/2 month trip to the south of Thailand

To travel to Cambodia one way air could also require onward documentation as below. And would cost at least 1,500 baht which is more than a Thai visa would cost(and lock them to a specific day) so believe a two entry visa bought before travel is the best plan.

Visitors are required to hold proof of sufficient funds to

cover their stay and documents required for their next

destination.
