Obstetrics Advice On Koh Samui

Featured Replies

We are currently living on Koh Samui and planning to try for our second child while here (hoping to fall pregnant a couple of months before we a due to return home.)

I have looked up all the gynos/obstetricians from the various hospitals on the island but am wanting to hear from anyone that has had first hand experience here. I am wanting talk to anyone who has any input. I plan on being here for only the first part of my pregnancy before returning back to Australia to have the child.

Thanks in advance.

how loong r u planning to stay here during the early stages. i only ask because i know i might be jumping the gun but just in case u get delayed and decide to stay longer then some , well all airlines have traveling restrictions with pregnant ladies. when u fly back just in case. u might not need it but better to have it than not have . just get a letter from the doc. saying u r alright to fly.

infact some airlines can by quite arsey about all this. so better have it as a back up.

As for doctors the one in Nathong cal Pittisalusuk on the beach road is very good. he was educated over seas and is a specailist with babies but u will have to go early to get a number the opening times are ( not sure about morning ) but after i think 12 and 2. then evening i thin 1700 hrs.

what i used to do was drive to nathong at 12 and get a number for 1700 hours then we would be early in the que.

Bangkok hospital are stupidly over priced. probably try to sell u loads of other crap u don't need also then hit u with a big bill at the end.

Nathong isn't very posh clinic but u do get the best value for money. thats why he drives and brand new CRV. When u see how many patients he has u shall know why.

anyway the choice is yours.

good luck by the way. we used this doc though out my misses pregnancy and he was very good and he was recommended to us and other people i know on the island say the same thing

good luck and congratulations

Thanks for all that information. We are returning to Australia in January and i traveled while pregnant with our first last year and i know i can fly until the beginning of the third trimester so if i got pregnant from now on i will be safe. I will check that out for sure. It doesn't need to be "posh" or anything, as long as they have my babies best interests i really don't mind. I herd that Bangkok Int was really expensive. Like i said, i already have a child so i am a little more knowledgable on what is and isn't necessary.

Again, i really appreciate the information. We will drive around and have a look next week to know where it all is. I'm probably getting a little ahead of myself as i'm not even pregnant yet.

Cheers.
