I am going to be staying at my girlfriends village about 45 mins SE of Ubon Ratchanthani for four weeks. I really need to have some form of Internet and wondered what my best option was as I have never had to worry about getting internet service before.I have a Nokia 5800 mobile and will have my laptop if that is any help, thanks for your help.

Maybe the simplest solution would be to attach your phone to your PC via USB and use it as a GSM modem (2G:GPRS/EDGE). You could get a SIM from AIS/One-2-Call or DTAC/Happy, maybe ask your GF which provider has the best signal in her locale. Then add on a data plan. Nokia PC Suite has the embedded rivers and UI to make connecting fairly simple, but Windows can also recognize the phone as a modem, then you just have to use the proper dial string, which may be *99# (no username or password required).

Good Luck. Unfortunately I suspect your visit will feel like an exceedingly long time. You might find an internet shop or decide to use an air card. These both are very undesirable if you are accustomed to having full and fast internet connections.

I move to Isaan a/b 13 months ago and it took 8 months before we were granted an internet connection from TOT. I used an air card which is over priced (for service) and slow as hell. Downloading is only a dream with this device, but can check emails etc.

Sorry for my take on this and maybe others can suggest something more appealing.
