I have a passport that is still valid for two more years. I am running out of pages in my passport. Do I need to apply for a brand new passport.? I am a US citizen 34 yrs old.

Thank you!

The US embassy will add pages (one of the few that still do), however the fee is apparently almost the same as that for a new passport.

I've never had a passport expire, they're always full long before the expiry date :(

You can either obtain new passport or add pages to the current passport. As pages now cost (I think) $85 suspect a new passport might be worth the extra cost for many people (yours is only useful for 1.5 years as many countries require six month validity). Only takes about 10 days to obtain from US via Embassy.

It would be best to make an appointment online at the Embassy web site but it is not required until 1 September. You go to the ACS section which is the visa entrance in building across the street from the new Embassy itself. If you want passport fill in the on-line application/print and get photos ready. You do the mail in form but you keep your old passport and it will be canceled upon issue of new. Embassy will take care of the sending/receipt. If adding pages believe they still do while you wait. Check on times as believe it is 0730-1100 and 1300-1400.

Thank you very much for your quick reply's!

Is the Embassy near Ratchadamri BTS? Do I just walk up to it and say hey.. I need a new passport fellas? :P

Good advice above, get a new passport rather than just add pages for $82. Here's the reference:

Take the BTS to the Ploenchit Station and walk towards Rama IV, the ACS is on your left.

Best to make an appointment: http://bangkok.usembassy.gov/acsappointment.html

In any case, when you see the long line of people there at the entrance, just go to the head of it, as an AmCit you're not queue busting, most of those folks are waiting for visas, a different doorway.

Added pages to mine last month (48 extra instead of the normal 24)...made an appointment online, and was in and out of there in five minutes flat. Enter through security, show them your appointment paper, and walk back to the cashier to pay your money. By the time your receipt is printed, there will be somebody at the window facing the cashier waiting to take your passport. Extremely efficient compared to some other government offices.
