Should I Get A New Passport Now?

I've only got 2 pages left in my passport.

I'm in Cambodia, and about to get a double entry tourist visa for Thailand.

I'm wondering if I should go to a US embassy/consulate and get a new passport for myself prior to doing that so I don't run out of space for it.

What do you guys think?

Might as well get one now, at least that'd save you a special trip out to Thai Immigration at Chang Wattana to transfer your arrival stamps after you get a new passport at the AmEmb in Bangkok.

However, note that you'll need a couple weeks there in Cambodia for your new passport to be ready. Got the time?

Depends on how much longer before it expires. You can get extra pages put in really quickly. I just got 48 pages added in mine, and I was in and out in minutes.

I would just get pages added instead of a new passport, but depends when your passport expires. The cost for adding pages is $8

I believe the cost is actually $85 and it now makes more sense to obtain a new passport for most people.

Well, actually get pages since there is some impoortant data you passport. Thailand is now interested in you travels for various reasons. they like a copy of the numerous entry exit stamps from various coun tries and the paperwork pile I submit for my 1 year extension of stay.. I say some others having to go to the copy shop (pang) etc. Getting pagers is much much faster that a new passport. Cost being the same add pages!

Nobody likes a passport that takes 5 minutes to find current entries, especially the persons waiting behind you and the immigration officer forced to search through a messy passport. Immigration is very happy to see new passports.

Just show the offiicer the local. A good example is that my extension of stay and reentry are pages apart. they seems to be more interested in getting things in the pages. NThe Vietnam Embassy passed up about 6 empty pages to plop in their thingo where as the Thai gentz as Sapnhin Hin acttually press over some old stamps to get my extension of stay in before wasting pages. The fact of the matter is the Reentry in on page 21 and the extensin is on page 23. I have taped a red paper clip so as to make the area. Here is an even better note.My 2011 reentryt permit is further along in my book that my 2012. I' get back on this as I'm going out in a few days etc. I wouldn't delve to far into the esoterics of stamp location in you passort and any physholigical profiles of Immi Offcers.
