Blast at northern China hospital kills 4

CHANGZHI, CHINA (BNO NEWS) -- Four people were killed on late Saturday afternoon when a boiler exploded at a hospital in northern China, the government said. More than a dozen others were injured.

The blast happened at around 4 p.m. local time at the Chengqu hospital in Changzhi, a city in Shanxi province, destroying a part of the boiler room and seriously damaging surrounding rooms in the building.

A statement released by the city government said a total of four people were killed in the explosion, but few other details were immediately released. Sixteen others who were near the room when it happened were being treated for various injuries.

The cause of the explosion is under investigation, the statement added.
