Featured Replies

I dont know if this is any use to anyone, but I just bought myself a new Garmin Nuvi 3790v (Thai version) It came loaded up with Thailand DEM, Thailand Streetmap v12.0 NT 3D, Malsingmaps Malaysia/Singapore/Brunei NT 2011.30 and Thailand Streetmap v12.01 NT [Dual] All.

Interesting since ESRI has not announced v12 Thailand Street Map.

As if by magic, the announcement appeared! Trying to find the actual v12 map.

Might be a silly question .... but, what is wrong with street signs? I have both sat-nav in my car and Tom Tom/Sygic for SEA on my phone. Put both on simultaneously and they give different directions!! Road signs are better and if I ever find myself in an area I don't know I just ask .... works every time!

Street signs wouldn't tell where you are in relation to your final destination nor plot a route for you.

For a variety of reasons I had to delay all my travel and haven't gotten either the Garmin or ESRI map yet for my 3750. Now it is finally time - Yay! Any new information on whether Garmin or ESRI is better?

I have the Garmin SEA V7.5 and the ESRI map is better. The ESRI map shows decent paved roads that are not on the Garmin map. Besides being cheaper, the ESRI map is better.

The Garmin map will get you where you want to go and the routing is pretty good but the missing roads as well as out of date points of interest are quite disappointing.

Ok, no reason not to go with ESRI then Gary. Thank you.

I tried calling ESRI customer service several times to confirm if using my U.S. purchased 3750 will work with their maps (per post #22). I encountered the usual difficulty calling any service number here - an unintelligible menu selection, then once I finally (after a long wait) got connected to somebody whose English I couldn't understand. Grrr!

Now the office is closed until tomorrow. I'm done jumping through these damnable hoops. I am going to go with the Garmin SE Asia map and live with it. Thanks just the same guys.
