Anyone been to Jan Bar (now Roo Bar).

Couple of Aussies own it.

Roundy is a hoot and if you are a regular you get loads of free shooters, slippery nipple and Dingo`s drop kicks are killers :o

If anyone does happen to pop in for a few cold ones, ask Bob to sing some Rolf Harris songs,it`s his favorites.... :D

Yeah,I read the thread of "Dying Girlfriend"

Brought a tear to the eye.

If I was in LOS I would be there for sure....

Yes, a sad story indeed. :o

For future reference, directions to The Harley (known to the taxi boys as 'Eden'):

I think I may of passed it before in a taxi ride to Jomtien.

I`ve never been that way for a drink before.

Will have to give it a try if I`m passing,

The Lion, run by Frank, just around the corner on Soi 17 next to Liberty Mansion is another friendly expat hang out. :o

What is your guys opinion on the Dogs <deleted> on soi Yamoto  :o

i was in the dogs <deleted> some months ago , and the ladies out side lured a old man about 70 in for a drink , the next thing i heard was a very loud slap i turned around to see the gaffers tart shouting at the old man ,so i said what did he do , she said he touch my bum not all Thai ladies the same , needless to say that's another bar to give a wide berth whilst that tramp is in there , if you do go in you cannot miss her ,shes the one with 2 rugby balls in her bra and enough gold hanging from her neck to put fort Knox to shame , O and a face like a bulldog chewing a wasp

What were you doing in there poppa, caught short for a crap?

I drove past there recently, but did no more than glance across at the patrons.

I recall thinking: "Christ, the things you see when you haven't got your gun..." :D

Oh man ... I can remember the bars in Olongapo ... beautifully tanned women with long hair and curvy proportionate bodies ... just beautiful!

Generalizing, but aren't Thai women similar to Filipinas? A bit more leggy, but oh, what legs!!!

The dogs <deleted> is great if you have some walter mitty like desire to be an east end gangster. They do a great christmas roast as well. The boys from the DB once almost invited me on their SEA tour, but not quite.

Just got home today.

Well the best bar-or the one I most frequented was the Best friend bar.

The reason being that I did make a best friend there during my stay. :o

Checked out quite a few bars on my travels and most were ok.

A big thank you to Thaiflyer who showed me around town.

Must have been a good night as I don`t remember that much.

TQ1 without a doubt.

/// dfw

TQ1 used to be a great bar if you like rock music. Nowadays the DJ plays long sets of grunge and, oddly, pop like Robbie Williams. Most punters don't care about the music in bars anyway, so the change in music evidently hasn't affected business. TQ1 does have a great sound system and a biker-friendly, comfortable atmosphere. But me, I've given up on TQ1. If you like rock, better go to Nevada on Soi Post Office or TQ2 on Soi BJ off Walking Street. Honorable mention goes to Spicy Girls Too on Soi Pattayaland, Tim on 2nd Road--and We Are Number 1 in Jomtien, though it's been ages since I was in Jomtien and maybe it's changed.

Draft beer isn't that expensive in TQ1 (as some poster complained) when you consider that you do get a large mug.

KK is an institution unto itself. Music's always great, the sleaze impeccable. Perfect for blues lovers. You can just hang out all day. A funny thing about KK is that it serves reasonably good coffee. Want cream with that . . . ?

Given that our forum is an international forum (believe it or not), I think we should confine our discussion and recommendations to those bars that genuinely welcome all nationalities and races. A policy like "Japanese only" or "Britrash only" certainly disqualifies a bar for a sizeable number of readers here; at the least, they should be warned of it.

Interesting what you say about the music. I used to go to TQ1 yonks ago, and the music was good - now not so great. It never ceases to amaze me how many bars play 'club - boom boom bloody boom' music and you take a look around and the average age of the clientele is well into their half centuries - mainly born centuries before so -called club music emerged from the depths of hel_l. True enough, many punters don't care about the music - so if so, why play boom boom bloody boom with no melodies if no one is interested? How about something with a tune?and that includes. rock, pop, blues and almost anything except boom boom bloody boom!! Sorry, its my pet hate. Excuse my ignorance - where is KK?
