American drug suspect arrested in Surat Thani

Thai police have arrested an American drug suspect on Koh Phangan in Surat Thani.

The arrest of William Howard Priola, 54, from New York, was announced at a press conference at the Immigration Police Bureau Tuesday.

Immigration Police Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Wibul Bangthamai said Priola was wanted on an arrest warrant dated June 20 2005 for allegedly having drug in possession for sale and another warrant dated December 15 2004 on robbery charge.

Wibul said Priola escaped to Thailand on March 9 2007 through a checkpoint in Nong Khai and has never left the kingdom since then.

Wibul said Thai police traced Priola to Koh Phangan where his Thai wife, Kornrawee Kaewprasong, has a restaurant and he was arrested there.

Wibul said Priola will be extradited to the US soon.

Billy, as he is more commonly known as, the self-imposed falang mafia gangsta chief of Cha-am, has finally found his proper and well deserved home in the Bangkok Hilton Monkey House, Now when are they going to catch his son/nephew, who is also running from the law and is here in Thailand? Like father, like son, both rotten apples to the core; as is Billy Boy's wife, as they found him hiding beneath a table at her brothel. Both father and son, the dynamic duo idiots need to face justice from the long arm of the American Law, poetic justice served to the well deserved. Just wish it had been 4 years sooner so that the people of Cha-am did not have to be blessed or exposed all those years with this kind of trash running amok! God bless America, thank you for taking out trash!

Dont think they caused any problems in Cha am......those that wanted their powder could get it from them but they pretty much kept themselves to themselves...agree that knowing they are wanted, should really have kept a lower profile.....last news his boy was on his way to Laos last week, Koh Chang is another hideaway of his, wont be long befor he is caught

When does the US State Dept or the US Dept of Justice issue an international arrest warrent for two-bit dope dealer for buying a dime bag at the corner ghetto market? They dont, they have bigger fish to fry. Billy was known throughout Cha-am by anyone that talked to him, as he told everyone his tall-ass stories from running from the law in NYC, his 12 years at Ricker Island for killing someone, narcotics, racketeering, his friends from the mob including all of the ones that make front page news when tossed into prison for life, prostitution, and the list goes on. Selling dope and prostitution are both against the law of Thailand and he did both. He would go to the Cambodia border and buy some nasty stuff and place it in his premium labeled liquoir bottles in his bar, again not legal. So if indeed, it was only a bag of dope, Billy told it like it was the biggest bag of dope ever, and he killed, robbed, mugged, and all else for that bag. His stories I guess where so good that the US Justice System believed him, hence the Monkey House. Wonder how is day is going, worse than yesterday, but better than tomorrow. Hope that bag was worth it!

If you are invloved in any way then my advise is be very carefull as it could cost u your life and your families or just go somewhere else. like rehabe.

thbink about it. Is it really worth it. people who sell drugs must be on them temselves which is why they feel invinsable.

think how much money you owuld have if u could beat the habbit.

Adding to this thread adds to the notiriety of two visitors to Thailand that were basically nothing special.........anyone in Thailand that steals as much as a hub cap is classed as 'Mafia'......the man arrested leased a few cheap beer bars and dealt crap cocaine, he and his family wore clothes that were 4-5 years old and had no money whatesoevever......his son lived in a cheap 3,000 Baht room without a window...hardly 'Mafia'.....low level drug dealer and junkie son, thats about it....so with the post above, lets hope that something is done again about drug dealers, personally, I have no time for them and their product and would prefer all of them are kicked out/arrested/imprisoned

I do not condone the activity for which Billy is accused. At all.

I will say that for me and in my opinion for many people who know Billy, his getting arrested is a sad event. He is a likable guy and I enjoyed his company.

The real tragedy is what is going to happen to his two young children, who are clearly very attached to him and look to him for support.

As an aside, I don't think it is accurate or appropriate at all to use the word "mafia" in referring to him.

Spot on.

and to DavidMavic who wrote "The real tragedy is what is going to happen to his two young children, who are clearly very attached to him and look to him for support." Again - it is a tragedy for them. Their father should have thought of this if he really loved them.

Unfortunately, in my (limited) experience of people involved in drugs, they only think of themselves!

The term mafia in my opinion, has lost it's sole purpose of description of Italian organised crime. It is being used loosely around the world to describe people involved in unsavoury criminal acts.

yes the term mafia used to mean that u had to earn respect of the bosses. sometimes taking many years. then a serimony.

the cutting of the hand and the burning for saint.

now all u have to do is some illegal stuff an u r classes as what used to be a term for men of respect.

the mafia for real used to tax other criminals. which kept their hands clean and have a large load of their oney from gambling mixed with load sharking.

i know there is allot of that here
