Talking with a girl she was underage.

Give her some money to go home and promise her to help her.

I don’t know if this was a smart move from me, i would like to keep my promise as i always do.

I think that is the only correct answer for such a situation. Giving her money is definitely a very bad idea...

Money will end up either for clothes / phones, in the hands of the parents, in the hands of a pimp... and she will be back in the bar soon later... and even more... she will learn that she can get lot's of money telling all farang that she is underage and has so many problems and is in such a need for some money... and if it did not happen yet, the day will come where she sells herself for the money...

I think this advice is the best so far….By far.

Give her the info…walk away; you cannot save her from herself. She has to make the move. Anything else, any other involvement, (underage child remember) you are possibly leaving yourselves open for a very expensive lesson in 'sticking you noise in to Thai business'.

when you say underage ,how old was she ,very few bars will take on girls under 18 especially in tourist areas.

I think you should give her money and buy her a house.

Not all but most of these young girls are in the bar so they have money for computers, cell phones and other toys. They also like the action, the partying, and the excitement of being with different men. They send very little if any money home. Giving a young BG money is just giving her more reason to stay.....sad but true !!! As one young 19...now 20 year old told me one time " the money is too easy". She takes a holiday sometimes and goes home but always returns and works a different bar. Young, beautiful and comes from nice family who don't need any money. Her father wants her to stay home and is even willing to give her money and pay for school.....You can not get them out of the bar once they get it in their blood...about two weeks or a few nice payoffs will get them hooked forever. If they only knew the real cost of doing what they do....very sad !!!

I think it was a good thing that you did. Especially, if you felt good about it. However, as most of the posts say, "once you start down that road " . But, if it made you feel good and that you were doing the right thing at the time, maybe you were and maybe she just took the money and ate and went home. However, like most of the advise given I wouldn't get into a habit of falling in love at first sight or whatever or giving out too much help, as you can be sure if you return to the same bar in a week, she will probably be there.

An off topic but somewhat related tangent. We're in the process of seizing a home and adjacent property from a guy who had apparently though it was better to leave his first local wife because of parasitic inlaws for a new local wife that was indeed effectively an orphan (as per common conventional 'wisdom' posted on these forums). Didn't end well. She gambled (and apparently had a few local guys on the side under her care) a fairly large home, multiple automobiles, and half a dozen shophouses built by said gentleman and is now basically destitute. The guy at least isn't skinnt (like the property we seized from a less fortunate Brit last year) and is now back with his first wife. Beware fleeing from a lion into the mouth of a crocodile as the local saying goes.
