Army Chief Denies Troop Training in Israel

The army chief denies Thai troops have been sent for a special operation training in Israel as claimed by a high-profile red-shirt leader and Pheu Thai MP.

He, once again, denies the army is planning a coup to unseat the Pheu Thai government.

Army's chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha denied the accusation made by Pheu Thai party-list MP Jatuporn Prompan.

He explained that no Thai troops have been sent for a special training program in Israel in preparation for a coup, calling the accusation groundless.

Prayuth said if such a mission exists, he, as the army chief, must have been informed.

The general staunchly denied any report has been made to him about the training mission.

However, Prayuth said he will not file a libel charge against Jatuporn given it will only be a waste of the court's time.

He also denied the army is planning to stage a coup to topple the democratically elected government.

The army chief added he will continue to do his best to serve the country and protect the Monarchy.

jatuporn should be put on a "disregard any thing he says, list". Hand this out to all so called journalists and when he does slip something out to the public, the broadcast/printed news should be required to do the same.

Shunning would probably be a fitting procedure to follow for him and his kind. I understand that there is no motherly love wasted on this misfit, which he seems to rightly deserve.

If they did decide to gave special operations training then Israel would be a good place to learn some tricks.... Agree.. Jataporn really needs locking up for his own protection .

It is no big secret that many countries have sent observers to Israel to learn about the Israeli approach to airport security, bomb disposal techniques and bomb blast & burn victim medical care. Jatuporn has very good reason to fear a coup, but now those fears are consuming his every waking moment to the point of turning him into Chicken Little. When and if he does see a coup coming, because he has accused everything of being a conspiracy, his warning will be ignored. The man needs to <deleted>. and to calm down. It is no wonder the PM has distanced herself from the man.

That about sums it up. Not worth agitating the red thugs, and anytime Jatuporn opens his mouth, be careful no to be downwind.

This is who the Thai people voted for.....

The response could have been something like this: "We neither confirm nor deny such stories, as they allude to national security, and that's not something that should be bandied around in the rumour mills by such irresponsible grandstanding windbags as Jatuporn."

Incidentally (Maidu speaking), training with Israelis would be a smart move by Thai security forces. As things stand now, popular tourist destinations like Puket, Bangkok, and Pattaya are vulnerable to terrorist attack (a la Bali). Israel and Thailand are 180 degrees apart in security professionalism and preparedness. Plus, Isreal is at the vanguard of small weapons development and uses, which are skills that Thailand sorely lacks.

even if they did, suppose they did, well good nonetheless. Israelis are well trained from krav maga to arms and survival.

Wish the army would apply some Israeli tactics to teach Jatuporn where a big lyin' mouth gets you....

Seems to me that looking back at elections that the Thai's or a section of the Thai community are indeed quite skilled in the applications and uses of small weapons.

The best way to avoid a coup is for the politicians to work for the best interest of the country. I doubt the military or anyone will wish to throw them out if they would try it.

Good advice. No need to blame him as terrorist, as ... whatsoever. Ignore him. A strong weapon.

The coup he prepares because the New Governement neglects him?

Another reason why the politicians should immediately interfere in the army's cozy practices and immediately alter the reshuffle list.

Because a proven liar spins yet another rabble rousing rumor?

Shame the last government didn't send Abhisit to Israel for a bit of training where he could have learnt how to nip in the bud an uprising such as the red shirt one the moment it starts and not let the mob rule and terrorise the capital for 8 weeks.

What all of them ?

Why are so many people champions of the elitist and even more unfair, corrupt system that was in place before the reds were democratically voted in ?

If he is so certain AND he has the proof then publish it everywhere BUT if he has no proof why is he saying it.

To my mind the coziest practice in Thailand is that of a party list MP.

There should ONLY be MP's elected in a constituency that they should represent for the people that elected them.

Why would they need to go to Israel to rehearse for a coup? Every staff officer studies the manual on coups at Chulkhomchao. It just needs some updates from time to time like the chapter on taking into account Bangkok traffic after the coup that failed in the late 70s when the tanks got stuck in the early morning rush hour traffic. Don't think the Israelis can help much with that sort of thing. But assassination of high profile enemies in Dubai is more in their line of expertise.

Because the alternative is much worse. The only difference is they're PRETENDING to champion the poor and downtrodden.

Why, of all armies, would the Thai military need training to stage a coup? And why in Israel?

Where the hell does Jatuporn get his ideas from, and have ANY of them ever been backed up by irrefutable facts?

It's high time Yingluck demonstrated that she is the PM and brought this loose cannon into line.

He doesn't realize it, but by lieing continuously, by hating people relentlessly, and by refusing to forgive people he opposes and hates, Jatuporn is filling his body's cells with more and more negative energy. Cellular memory is recognized as the cause of illness, including cancers. In short, Jatuporn is probably killing himself slowly.

Remarkable impassioned opinions from these non-Thai citizens. Is it imagined that they are granted reciprocal respect from the Thai that they admire so much?

elitist?! And what are Yingluck and her brother worth?! They're not elitists? Nor the rich feudal reps of the red shirts? You need to drink a nice tall glass of get a clue.

Your only excuse is that you just arrived or are on holiday here! Or is it opposite day in your country?

How was the previous administration more corrupt, please tell us. Otherwise you're no more informed than a bribed uninformed farmer from the rural NE.

You expect him to provide proof or evidence.

Come on, that would break his unblemished track record of dozens of ridiculous statements, all of which came the date that he would provide evidence, but no evidence has ever appeared.

An unblemished track record, a true champion.

Oh I think theyre quite informed, whether they are bribed or not. After all, they have watched the party which they elected to form a government be forced out of power twice, they have listened to the geriatric fascists who lead PAD telling them that they are too pig ignorant to vote anyway, and should just do as they are told. They have seen their sons conscripted into the Army, and sent to fight a pointless conflict against Cambodia to assuage the nationalist ambitions of another bunch (sometimes the same) geriatric fascists. They are informed allright. You may believe that they are mistaken, are backing the wrong faction and are wrong to see corruption and manipulation in the way the last lot came to be in governement, but you can't say they are unimformed!

Speaking of corruption and manipulation, where does hero Thaksin fit into this sunny picture, unless its with blinkers. As for accusations of fascism, did the cheerleaders speak out against Thaksin's incitements against gays? I don't think so. Just throwing mud while wearing very dirty shirts.
