PAD All Set To Fight Thaksin's Return

No empathy towards other people, have you? Why care about anything as long as it doesn't affect you? You must be a really nice person....not.

Of course I care about other people. I feel empathy for most poor Thais who have no political agency and are forced to subvert their own well being because of a lack of education, corrupt government, and no opportunities. I won't be sucked into the politics here though. Both political parties have terrible people and if you really buy into one side being "better" you are a fool.

As a foreigner, what else are we supposed to do? Give our opinions which go against the elite's way of thinking and you're told to go home. Live here as an outsider and say 'It's noting to do with me' and you're told you don't care.

When Thais tell me 'it's not your problem. Mind you own business' I can 100% accept that. All 'farangs ' on TV are equal. Some 'farangs' on TV are more equal than others.

Thaksin, in my humble opinion, is not a good person. I'd go as far as hurting some people's feelings and say he's rotten.

I fully agree that both sides have terrible people. But burning down malls (as you said is no big deal with you) or even cities does affect people's businesses and lives.

The politics of both sides do affect everyone's well being.

Correction, it affects Thai people's well being. If you're an expat chances are you won't be affected and if things really go to hell you can always take the next flight out. If you married a Thai and have kids well then it sucks to be you.

I think bombs going off and buildings burning down would affect anyone in the vicinity, irregardless of nationality.

Anyone with the financial resources can leave, again, irregardless of nationality or family situation.

.

yes its poor sods who have no option who are going to suffer the most and poor Taksin has very cleverly duped. Anyone with a family here who has assets only here and not taken precaution of getting at least 1/2 out is foolish to say least. Weve now completed phase 1 of our plan which was to get at least 1/2 our Thai assets out just in case. With state of property market and difficulty of finding buyers for land except at fire sale prices phase 2 is taking a lot longer. You have been warned and although I hope it really does not get very bad I repeat if you simply sit and do nothing assuming you have any assets then you are likely to regret it IMO. I also support any peaceful action or action in self defence including occupying airports and rest that helps stop Thailand becoming Mr Taksins own personal fiefdom. I sincerely hope anyone making the mistake to think Taksin is not exacly like Mugabwie, Gaddafi, Saddam and rest does not have their blinkered eyes opened if he gets his way.

My whole point is that they are right. Farangs who nose into Thai dirty laundry will just get burned. If they want to have a bonfire in the city's malls that's their prerogative. Sometimes a country needs to go through an ugly period of self destruction to understand where it stands. The French revolution, the U.S. civil war, etc.. all had a purpose in cleaning house. Thais need to go through the same process that's been in a long time coming. It will probably never happen though. The masses are just not educated enough to see the alternatives. They only see red and yellow because they don't understand what could be and instead get jerked around by the elites.

You know what else might have prevented Thaksin's return? Not organizing a massive vote no campaign during the last election allowing his sister to win.

That was where they got it all wrong.

PAD? What is the PAD? That group from the vote "No" campaign that came up with less invalid votes than ever before? OR do they mean a few ethnic Chinese which parents all came here as illegal aliens and whose welcome has been long oveestayed? The PAD is a club for which you have to fee sorry. Three members and a few goats still call themselves PAD.

They were once strong and Thaksin is doing everything that they will be strong again. A lot can be mobilized in the South.

Edit: Actually Thaksin is currently doing everything to make the PAD strong. People really bored of the NO vote campaign getting interested again.

If the government would have keep 1 year reasonable the PAD would have gone down further. Don't know why Thaksin is feeding them.

Right, after all the non-political interest, out comes the standard red-shirt revolution line. Wake up and smell the roses - the red-shirts have only one function, the return of Thaksin.

Great, it's obvious that they don't give two hoots about the country, just their own interests. I'm in favor of them being arrested and put directly in jail if they disturb the peace... any 'shirt' color that protests should be jailed. This is not helping Thailand. If you want to battle, do it in court!

So you favor eliminating the civil right to protest? Really? Maybe you should move to Burma or N. Korea.

You must be new in Thailand, PAD are a serious pain in the ass - just like the Red shirts, not really much to seperate the two really just doing their own masters business.

Both parties contain terrible people who are largely pawns for the rich and powerful. I don't care one wit about the politics involved only how it affects my own well being.

Now there is the voice of selfishness.

Maybe you should stop assuming. I am not against legal, peaceful protest. If you still have any memory or are capable of reading, perhaps you could/should see what the PAD did the last time they got pizzed off... occupied the airport, which would be an act of terrorism in some other countries. Try that in the US or UK and see what happens.

Thank goodness the floods are keeping them all preoccupied with themselves instead of at each others throats...

Maybe it will be a case of marine warfare this time round.....

ugly, ugly, ugly...........

Got anything constructive to say ??

Nonsense, any evidence for your last sentence ???

Or just wishful hyperbole.

Compared with Thaksins Red Shirt Terrorism,

it was merely a minor offence, and a Peaceful Demonstration.

Well at least they are not threatening to burn BKK down if they dont get their own way....

Not yet. They resorted to extreme measures with the support of the mainstream military the last time they staged major protests. What will they do if they don't get such support this time?

Thank God someone is doing something....

Yes, that's about all I can say too.

I know some of these people personally and it's a dark day for Thailand if they ever get to be PM.

NO DIFFERENT than Taksin. They just hate him because they lost so much money when he didn't keep them in the loop during one of his big projects to make billions.

Different color shirt but their character is no different (perhaps with the exception of Chamlong). I am a bit inclined to believe he is sincere.

But the situation here has degraded so much I don't care if it's YELLOW or RED but MAKE SOME CHANGES for the betterment of more than 0.5% of the population.

It's sad to see the same techniques being used here that have been used so expertly in the USA to concentrate more and more wealth with fewer and fewer people and their corporations.

I wouldn't be surprised if the nationwide flooding is designed to destroy more of the independent farmers who have long been the main obstacle to CP controlling the nation's food system.

How much of this is an Act of God and how much of it is by design and according to plan?

The flooding is NOT random, it's well orchestrated.

PAD all set to fight Thaksin's return

Bad headline.....should read PAD set to fight Thaksin's pardon/amnesty.

I doubt that any member of PAD would fight Thaksin's return as long as he went straight to jail which is where he belongs...

Horse before the cart, fighting the amnesty pardon is fighting his return, because he won't come back without them.

Thailand has an excessive number of malls so if a few burn down then it's no big deal. Plus the MRT and Skytrain is a nice way to avoid burning buses and red bull molotovs. When the sh*t storm hit its nadir no one I know was affected in the least unless you wanted to be in the epicenter for whatever deranged reason.

Look everyone this guy thinks burning down central world with lots of people losing their jobs "wasn't a big deal". You red shirts had your head stuck way too far up your ass.

Using your measurement of "big deal" then I guess all those red shirts that got shot wasn't a deal big either.. it's not like us expats knew any of them. blink.gif

When did the army bomb, use grenades, burn buildings and loot?

It nearly destroyed my business. There are people out there in the world that watch this stuff. Looks like a <deleted>' banana republic to customers overseas...

A peacefull demonstration? Is that how you characterize the complete shut down of an international airport? "merely a minor offense"??? Am I allowed to say Holy S#%T?How about this; ABSURD.

The level of how 'peaceful' an action is is determined by the amount of violence during the event, not how inconvenient the sit-in action was to you.
