I have a mate arriving from the UK then a week after he leaves my parents for two weeks, so I will officially be a tour-guide (lol) for a month showing everyone around.

I'm racking my brains out trying to think of things to keep them busy and impress, I'll be hiring a car for short day trips.

All suggestions welcomed-Many Thanks

Pity they will miss the Vegetarian Festival, just concluded, probably the major sight of the year. Rain has been very heavy and likely to continue so for another month or so.

Phuket is all about the seafront: beaches, boats, watersports. Sea kayak trip to the north end of Phang-Nga Bay is interesting as are the various excursions to the islands: Phi-Phi (tourist trap), Raya, etc. Krabi on the other side of the bay has some spectacular scenery.

You know to avoid the hazards: tuk-tuks, jet skis; both are very, very nasty, also 24-hour suit makers, condo timeshares. The new Big Bhudda has some merit re the view from up there.

An evening tour of Soi Bangla and it's sidestreets can be an amusing sleaze crawl.

Since ur renting a car take a day trip (or one overnight) to Krabi;

stop at the monkey temple/cave on the way (Before the Phang Nga trun off to Krabi) than hit the shell beach outside Krabi, just south of Krabi is the Tiger temple and 1,300 steps or so UP the mountain for great views.

then if ur still adventurous head to ko lanta (another 90 kms south of Krabi) an spend the night.

Great drive and great scenery along the way
