Thailand Looks To Iraq For New Export Markets

DEPARTMENT OF EXPORT PROMOTION SUPPORTS THAI ENTERPRENEURS IN OPENING NEW MARKETS TO IRAQ

The Department of Export Promotion supports Thai entrepreneurs in opening new markets, to expand exports in Iraq.

Deputy director-general of the Department of export promotion Kunyapan Rangkham (กุญญาพัน์ แรงขำ) said that at present Iraq would like to import basic food worth no less than 2 billion US dollars per year. He said that entrepreneurs in Industrial sector from every country, including Thailand, have attempted to forge relations with Iraq to open a new market there. Therefore, he said that it is now a good opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs to expand their export destinations to Iraq. Mr. Kunyapan added that the products that Iraq wants to import include IT-related goods, medical supplies, construction materials, rice, sugar, and vegetable oil. Therefore, he urged Thai producers to manufactures such products, so that they can be exported to Iraq.

Sure they would like to import a lot of different things, but do they have the money to pay for the goods, and how do we know that IT related goods will be used for peacefull purposes.
