try the net.

I am perfectly capable of using the net and can find prices for various Hotels, I was looking for a recommendation from someone who may have stayed there and was willing to offer a bit more than a sarcastic comment.

If you dont get any replies then its worthwhile to check out agoda and trip advisor under their traveler reviews for each hotel.

The Nana Hotel of Manila, it's right next to the bars

Doesn't it depend where he wants to be located? Manila is a vast sprawl.

RabC, very much depends on where you want to be.

If you are going to be in Ermita/ Intramurous area then the pan pacific is nice, big rooms and quite comfortable.

Guys my trip was cancelled last year and someone resurrected an old thread.

There's nothing worth doing in Manila except for the bars so he may as well be near them for his evening's entertainment.

Yes, but there are many different bar areas. The one you reference is the strip on Roxas Boulevard, an awful overpriced bunch of bars with pushy girls. A horrible (and much tamer) version of Nana, in my view.

Other choices would be P Burgos: best hotels in that area would be the makati giants such as Shangrila, New World, Intercontinental, Mandarin etc.

My preferred area is Ermita and Malate: I usually stay at the Pan Pacific (already mentioned) or Hyatt Casino.

^I always found the bars in P.Burgos to be well overpriced and tame, more like the Soi 33 'artist' bars than the down and dirty Cowboy / Nana type bars that are on Roxas.

Can't argue with that. I'm a Malate fan myself . . .

Hobbit House and the nice restarants around Adriatico?

I think Hobbit House has gone, or at least it wasn't in the same place it used to be when I looked for it back in December. Admittedly, it was my first trip to Manila in 3 years so its probably just located.

Even the original Cafe Havano at Remedios is gone.

But - let's face it - the area has other attractions too.

Returned a few weeks ago from Makati actually.

Did a little bar hop with a Pinoy colleague in P. Burgos street.

And yes, you are 100% correct.

Almost western prices for a drink (or beer).

We paid 380-400 Pesos for a lady drink (which is a miniature glass).

Needless to say, we did not make a whole evening out of that street.

lol

Anyhow, since this is about hotels.

I stayed at Oxford suites hotel.

Believe it is a 3 maybe 4 star hotel.

Nice.

Check it out on Tripadvisor.
