My Retirement Visa Extension and 90-day reporting are both coming up next month & the dates coincide.

The question is: Does the visa extension count as a 90-day report or must one do the 90-day report as well?

And the answer is NO.

They are totally separate actions. You need to do both regardless of any coincidence of dates.

But if it is your first extension of stay the application date is considered to be your 90 day report and thereafter to be done separately.

Thanks for the reply Jingthing - it is certainly not my first extension and 90-day report.

Again it must be what location you use. For the past two years my last 90 day report date fell within one monthe of the expiration of my extension. So to "kill two birds with one stone" when I went in on my 90th dfay to do the report I applied for another years extension. Both times the officer gave me back to 90 day form and told me it wasn't required since I was extending my visa. After the extension paperwork was completed he took the old 90 day form out of my passport and threw it away. He then stapled a small preprinted form the said that I had to report 90 days from that date. The visa was extended for 1 year from the current expiration date which was two weeks in the future. The office that I use is Nakhon Sawan. In my case I would have answered his question Yes!

But you would not normally have been making 90 day reports if it were going to be your first extension of stay.

Of course not. I was simply clarifying the one point in time when they are considered together compared to the norm of separately.

Confucius and all that :jap:

Edit:- That was at Bangkok, it may be different now???

Sorry if you thought that I was slamming you. Believe me that wasn't my intention and apologise if it sounded like it was. There's enough of that BS going on in most of the threads recently. I was just reporting my experience. I thought that was what these forums were all about. I think that we are in agreement that you will not be sure of what is required until you sit down in front of an officer and discuss with him exactly what you want to do and sometimes that doen't work. A few years ago I renewed in Korat just after they moved their office to Choc Chai. I had spoke to an officer in Korat, before they moved, and he told me exactly what they requiired and that I needed one copy of everything. When I went to Choc Chai the receptionist told me that I needed two coies. So off to the copiers and photo shop I went. When I finally got to the immigration officer she handed one copy back and said that I didn't need two. When I told her that the receptionist said that I needed two she said "she's from the Surin office and they have different rules." I now put the kitchen sink in the back of the truck just in case.

I need to do a 90 day report on 16 December and my retirement extension needs to be renewed on the 26th and I intend to obtain the new extension on or about the 15th to coincide with the 90 day report date, given that renewing an extension is allowed 30 days before expiry...

given that the issue date for the new extension will initiate an new 90 day period, I really don't think that immigration will insist upon completing separate procedures (90 day report + extension) for both...do you?:coffee1:

In KKC they do.

Why do people fuss about this if they're going to immigration anyway? It's gotta be one of the easiest forms you"ll ever need.

well...they should then be arrested and charged with 'farang obsfucation' and harshly sentenced accordingly...

A TM.47 is used to report address - not a TM.7 that you will require for the extension of stay. Yes they will require both forms be submitted. If you download and fill out on your computer all you need to do every 3 months is change the date and print. I also do not believe it should be a requirement but the form itself is about as easy as any 'form' can be for those with computers (and not really a lot of trouble manually).
