Ratchada Area Loud Explosions At Night?

Featured Replies

For the last few days I've been hearing loud bangs every now and then during the night, I think too many to be electric transformers going off and too little and random to be fireworks. I mentioned that to a friend and he said he'd heard them too and even saw bright flashes at street level.

Anyone have noticed that? Any ideas what is going on?

its been going on all over the city. I am guessing Chinese Spirit thing of some kind.

fireworks, they have these huge banger type.

Yep, usually starts a few days before Loy Krathong.

As we head towards Loy Kratong you will hear this increasingly as the local youths let off fire crackers and rockets. Then, as if by magic, after Loy Kratong, everything will become peaceful again.

Also, with school holidays extended due to flooding and the youth of the city having more time on their hands than they know what to do with, you will hear explosions in the daytime too.

God, I've been hearing the explosions you're talking about for almost a week now. It's mostly at night and it's very scattered and random. Sometimes they are going off at about 3 or 4 in the morning, very loud ones too. Really sucks when you're dead asleep and are woken up by it :(

This year unusually loud. it starts to play on my nerves. I think Chinese provision of firecrackers has been good this year.

Fireworks at night?! Wow, simply unbelievable! Big flashes and a loud bang? It's not that hard to work out is it - Loy Kratong fireworks!!!
