San Sai Mt. Bike Race

Featured Replies

Just found out there's a Mt. Bike Race in San Sai this Sunday. It's a early Father's Day event which has 3 different lengths (44 km/33 km/ fun ride) with 26 categories in all. Trophy and cash prizes etc. I have extra entry forms which includes a route map (it starts at the Tessaban goes to Mae Kuang Dam and back) if anybody is interested. I have found difficulty finding info on events like this (luckily my GF heard the village speakers announcing it as I live 1/2 km from the course) so wanted to share. Get in touch if your planning to go and you'd like to meet up for a chat as I'm sure there's lots of hanging about before as I've experienced at these events before. With this weather it should be a fun day for the whole family!

Thanks for the info. We'll definitely have a look on Sunday morning.

I appreciate seeing the bicycle community in Chiang Mai growing fast. And I find most of these people really likeable.

A few updates on Sunday's event. It's FREE!! (yes w/cash prizes, free gift bag to 1st 300 ppl. (I think that incl. an event T-Shirt) etc.). No pre-entry required just show up at the San Sai Tesseban @ 6 am. The 44 km is only 5 km off pavement w/one long not too steep climb, 33 km 3km off pavement and one shorter but steeper climb and the fun ride is 12 km and one needs to be a resident of San Sai. They are expecting a good turn out (I've even heard around 1000?!?). Don't forget your helmet. These details I've gathered from different sources and cannot not say they are all 100% accurate but should give you a good idea of what's happening. I have maps and info pamphlets and am going on a trail run this morning if anyone needs more info. Hope you can make it! Happy Riding!!
