hi guys, posted this on local forums already but feel i might get more answers here.

i am sitting in the ford service centre as i type this. this will be my third service (30,000 km)

the 2 times previous and now today the service price always differs from the advertised price. i got the 2 free services vouchers when i purchased but they still charged me. on this one its about 1500 baht higher than advertised. i dont speak thai too good so cant get a real good answer as to why. anyone had experience of this and if so what was the reason.

thanks in advance.

The free vouchers are usually only for labour, not any parts you might need such as oil & filter etc. They should give you an itemised bill which shows what makes up the total.

hi, thanks for the reply. however is the labour charge not free within the warranty period ? if so then what is the point to the vouchers.

my question is, why when it states clearly on their website and the service charge sheet at the ford dealership what the price for the service is (including parts) and if they only replace those parts, why is the final price always in excess by at least 1000 baht ?

thanks again for your reply.

They coulkd be upselling you to a higher grade of oil, or upselling you other items like AC filters...

It does sound like a case of "please explain this" though - is there someone at the dealership that can communicate in English?

hi, yes you are right. i got the wife to translate the bill as best she could. there are putting in a higher grade oil, however they never asked if I would like it. Surely the oil Ford suggest in their quote is good enough ( or maybe not) i never use the aircon (gives me a sore throat) so the filter was fine. once again never asked me. I would imagine that the aircon system isnt part of the general warranty on the vehicle (engine and gear box) so why change it (i could be wrong). they also used 3 additional items to 'clean' the engine'. is that normal practice for a new vehicle ?

thanks for the replies. its not the additional money (small) its just the why. i like to know whats going on. :)
