Work Permit

Recommended Posts

Some one from the local ampher office came to the house and asked my wife if I would be interested in talking to local school children in English ( I was not at home at the time),the offer was a few hours a week and they would give/get me a work permit.Has any one any ideas on this?

It would depend on what basis you are in Thailand. If you are on a retirement extension as an example, then you cannot work in any capacity. If you are on an extension based on marriage then you can do it but be wary of false promises. There have been numerous reports of "offers" to get the work permit but it never seems to materialize, You need to satisfy yourself as to the legitimacy of the offer, but remember any work paid or unpaid requires a permit to be legal.

taff33, if you feel comfortable doing this charitable work I encourage you to accept the offer and start with the work after you get the work permit. I am confident that you will derive satisfaction from it and find it a useful way to integrate still better in the local community.
