I have family arriving next week and want to take them to a nice Thai restaurant with nice ambience and pref with some entertainment if poss. I'm looking around the Phrom Phong area.

I'm racking my brains but can't rally think of any. We are not penny pinchers but don't want to pay silly prices either, just somewhere nice to spend a view hours inside or out.

Although it's an 80 Baht cab ride, GERMAN TAWAN DANG, the enormous beerhall on Rama-3 is a lot of fun for groups. Excellent beer brewed on premises, good food both Thai and western and pretty good entertainment with a elaborate show combining Thai and western music and dancing: moderately priced, about b500/person.
