How Do You Feel About Traditional Thai Massage In Pattaya?

I have a massage every 2nd day but I could easily have a daily foot massage as my girlfriend can do all but foot massage and I'm athletic so my feet need it most.

I avoid any shop where the girls are revealing their cleavage as I suspect their "training" is not what I'm there for. I avoid small framed women who look like they have no strength.

When I get to the shop, I always get the masseuses to agree to use any method except pressing her open palm all over my body for 90% of the massage. This I could get my dog to do. This is lazy and pressing my bones/arteries with open palm does nothing and could even be dangerous.

Don't get me started with those who like to twist necks. If you weren't relaxed, this could lead to some serious injury.

I know others who don't like strangers touching them or the paying for pain.

I am just back from 3 weeks in Pattaya and I had my daily massage, either foot or traditional Thai or oil massage. I could easily name you 5 different places, from Pattaya Klang to near Walking street to Jomtien, where all girls will provide you on request with their official certificate of education, whether Wat Pho or other... and all shops will NOT provide ANY additional services but ONLY massage.

I am also not sure, how much you know about "real" Thai massage? It is a healing therapy and acupressure with palms and fingers is an integral part of that kind of massage. And also, you should not think that small girls can not provide enough pressure for that. With their body weigth, they can apply enough pressure also for very muscular men.

If however, you are looking more for flowing pressure over your body, then you need to tell them / show them if you don't speak Thai and that can mostly be found when you ask for an oil massage. But again, this is not any more the traditional Thai massage with healing elements of acupressure.

I personally find the traditional Thai massage very helpful for my back and my shoulders (eliminating the calcification of my shoulder blades from my office work), but also can't do it every day, so I switch between Thai and Oil massage to get both the healing and the relaxation effects of the massages.

Some people seem to be too frugal (cheap) to enjoy a nice massage, possibly they use trees to rub and relax their bodies like bears and elephants.

I find traditional Thai massage rather uncomfortable and always opt for a more relaxing oil massage - but they are more expensive.

I've to agree with Darrel on this one, I only had a massage once here and it was so hurtful that I never had a massage again and had to get treated by a Doctor. I paid for the massage 200 THB and for the Doctor in the hospital afterwards 2000 THB. So never again

When I want to relax I just have a nap. If I want exercise I walk or have a swim. Massage doesnt seem to fall into either camp.

I enjoy the Soi Honey girls massages too, but it is very difficult to get a genuine therapeutic Thai massage in these parlors unless you live here and track a real maw nuet (doctor of massage) down. The real therapists use techniques that do not feel good when they are doing it, but if you have physical problems, you feel much better later and it often lasts for at least a few days.

perhaps the most professional place might be TBMI, the blind massage institute at Jomtien Complex plaza.

all 25+ staff got extensive training, very clean and well managed.Benefitting both customers and disabled man and woman..

When I elect to have a massage which is not too often, I always ask for a 'soft' one and with oil. More expensive and not really traditional, but relaxing nonetheless, and easier on the rugby ravaged back. I have no shame in saying that a happy ending is often a preferable conclusion. Foot massage is definitely out, I get cramp in my left calf after having suffered a tennis injury many years ago. If there is anyone who can offer up a solution to this through massage, I would really be interested to know

When in Jomtien/Pattaya try Sabai Thong. It faces the Jomtien Condotel on the backside of the main road. I've always had very good service with their traditional Thai massage and foot massage.

I am a regular customer at Healthland on Pattaya Nua...just below the bus station. It is that huge building next to the gas station. The place is immaculate and well run. You can buy a book of 10...2hr massages for 3500 baht. The massage therapists are excellent and just ask for what you like as far as strong or medium. They also have a downstairs clinic that offers a very specific ayurevidic massage. These are trained specialists who can help with specific injuries. They have had 4 yrs of schooling and they call them Dr. Its only 300 baht per hr and well worth it. Dr. Chittipong is one of the % Dr.'s and is well known . You will need an appointment to see him. Heathland is a chain that is all over BKK as well and for 350baht for 2 hrs you just cant beat the traditional thai massage there...its also in a private a/c room.
