Thai Products To Penetrate Global Market

COMMERCE MINISTRY PLANS TO PENETRATE FOREIGN MARKETS IN ALL AREAS TO PROMOTE THAI PRODUCTS IN GLOBAL MARKET

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister SOMKID JATUSRIPITAK (สมคิด จาตุศรีพิทักษ์) has urged trade administrators in each region to penetrate foreign markets in all areas so that Thai products will be more competitive in the global market. The Thai government will support products that represent Thai tradition and culture such as Thai cuisine, HOM MALI (หอมมะลิ) rice, and Thai spa products.

Following the meeting with the regional trade administrators, the Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister disclosed that the meeting was aimed to set Thai commercial strategies and plans to support the future of imported and exported products in Thailand. The Minister also wants trade administrators to take care of domestic and foreign investments. He has also assigned them to thoroughly represent their strategies and plans to the Ministry of Commerce within next month. Moreover, he wants the strategies to be implemented on January 2006.

Dr. SOMKID also said that Thailand plans to penetrate the food market of the United States of America. Meanwhile, he expressed his confidence that Thailand can export more products by 20 percent next year. However, he remarked that Thai traders have to penetrate the right market.
