submaniac Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Alas, no. I am still a prisoner of the USA at the moment. I am plotting my eventual escape, however. Unfortunately I did not get a chance to go out riding with folks from this board last time I was there. I was attending a funeral...and I underestimated how long and draining Thai funerals can get.
VocalNeal Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Not having a bitch...just stating a fact. We live on the edge of the national park...very quiet and the noise we hear in the background the most....more than any trucks or buses or such is the gangs of so called super bikes riding up and down the road. it should be illegal to ride something so small, yet so noise polluting...or someone should invent stick on mufflers that reduce the noise to something like a honda wave in quiet areas...in Bkk nobody gives a toss, make all the noise you want. If you made less noise, kept your lights off during the day ..all would be good. SS, I think you are entitled to your opinion which is echoed by the EU who have now banned modified exhausts on motorbikes. Most guys on here have bike which are OK but, yes. there is a fringe element who believe louder is better. There are a few in my soi If you are close to the road, a girl in a bikini selling lemonade would slow the guys down.
villagefarang Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 I am one of those guys who rides with his high beams on. I want to be seen. Still a motorcycle in the opposite lane seems to be an open invitation to leisurely enter and slowly overtake another vehicle, forcing the bike onto the shoulder to survive. I won’t be turning off my high beams anytime soon or expecting any change in the way people drive.

Slowing down does nothing as evidenced in the vid where the guy sprouting how proud he is to make noise and chase monkies on his bike...he rev revs the engine nice and loud entering the carpaprk....so he can be noticed and feel 6 foot 5, even though probably only 5 foot 5. Amazing what a pair of full leathers makes you grow.

KRS1 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 nice trip report as always. What model GSXR is it? K5 I'm slow as hell, but wow, what a rush! Almost fell asleep watching you ride.

taninthai Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Samsiam you may be better of living in Europe can't work out why you keep reading and commenting on a bike forum when you seem to have such hatred for bikers.......

Its not hatred for them....just some stupid things they do that they should not do. They are on a motorbike in Thailand and they should learn where they belong in the overall pecking order on the road here and stop feeling that everyone should be 'look at me' scenario. Motorbikes are 1 rung above pedestrians and as they say, when in rome....

Motorbikes are 1 rung above pedestrians and as they say, when in rome.... Thats a good discription of motorbikers of bikes large and small in thailand (as the thai`s see it)...we are near the bottom of the pile as far as they are concerned.. I`ve nothing against BigBike BKK tony, the only advise for him is that there is just too many of these pointless youtube videos of him and his small team of mates riding the roads we also ride, and we don`t put every clip up ( like driving in to car parks, following rear tires etc).....maybe others see it as look at me, look at me...small man syndrome....don`t know ? but there sure is a lot of , i`m the man, involved ......I think it`s great that you are a true fanatic tony, so am i, but maybe others see it as too much....Oh, and that "ride on" quote has had it`s day....surely ?
BigBikeBKK Posted February 1, 2012 Author Posted February 1, 2012 No one has to watch my videos or read my ride reports. Most of the feedback I get is positive (though it should be noted that ThaiVisa has more trolls and whingers than any of the other forums I frequent). I enjoy taking videos and writing ride reports. If they don't interest you don't watch 'em. DUH! ps. RIDE ON! Tony 1
submaniac Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 some of us LIKE the videos. I am stuck in the USA now. Whenever anyone posts pictures or video of riding in Thailand I watch them because it gives me a chance to daydream about being back where I want to be.
villagefarang Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 On the whole I find Tony a good spokesperson for biking in Thailand. He rides with Thais and Farangs. He rides a variety of different bikes which require different styles of riding. He has an infectious love of the sport and takes the time to share what he loves with other likeminded individuals. For the most part he is even pretty tolerant of those with views divergent from his own. He caters to what might be seen as a niche market but fills a need in that space. 1
submaniac Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Go ahead. Report the post. YOU are the one that came onto the motorcycle forum to post your vitriol about how much you hate motorcycles and those that ride them. I don't go on the ladies forum to post about how much I hate women, I don't go to the gay people in Thailand forum to post about how I hate gay people, I don't go to the teaching in Thailand forum to post about how much I hate foreign teachers. If you want to come to a place that is specifically set up so that motorcycle enthusiasts have a place to chat, then expect that your anti-motorcycle rants will be regarded with disaproval to say the least. If you want to have an opinion, fine. You don't need to share it here. Sit in your cave and stew about it to yourself then.

andrew55 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Clan?! <deleted>? Am I Scottish now? Hehehe...it's only when someone makes an accusation of being Scottish does Tony get offended. LOLZ! Dun worry mate- I've been called far worse! You in town? Gonna hit the Bangkok Bike Festival this week? Ride On! Tony Hey BBBBK. Sure if you've been told once you've been told a million times - 'don't exaggerate'! What could you possibly have been called that was far worse than Scottish? Really. Must admit that I'm surprised that you keep replying to the aggressive poster. Ignore him mate and he'll go away. Best for those of us that are otherwise enjoying this thread. Got me motivated. Think I'll go ride the twisties to Mae Sot this arvo. I love Smileys.

marcusb Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I ride solo 95% of the time. So far the other 5% has been with Tony and the boys. never met a nicer crew. I was on a cbr 150, yet there were no smart ass comments, no animosity. I'd be way behind yet at every major intersection they patiently waited, no troubles. I was impressed, no beer breaks, bikes in top shape so no breakdowns, safety was always number 1, everyone at their own pace. Also i learn so much about riding from watching them. The videos, I love them. If you don't they have a little "arrow" which indicates play, you must avoid that button, and scroll down. It's quite easy. I also really get a kick out of these debates, and the stupid sh!t that gets said. Take this thread for example, a guy just wants to show his weekend ride, people can reply "hey cool video" or backspace and go to another thread. Yet somehow 5 pages later we end up on a witch hunt. Keep it up I love it! This forum is by far the most humorous motorcycle forum on the interweb. It's actually the first one I check when I log on in the morning. Let the good times roll. marcus 1

I fear the problem is yours, not mine. I do not hate motorbikes or their riders...I dislike some of them and their noise and attitude of 'look at me' when they ride with their lights on high beam and make a lot of noise...particularly in a national park....did you know there is a speed limit in KY park ?? If you hate woman and gays and teachers so much as stated...you have issues. And if I have an opinion, I shall share it where I wish as that is part of free speech I believe. submaniac Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 And if I have an opinion, I shall share it where I wish as that is part of free speech I believe. You have no right to free speech. The right to free speech is guaranteed in the United States Constitution.. And even in the United States it is not an absolute right either. There is no right to free speech when it involves shouting fire in a crowded theater, or publishing pictures of child pornography, for example. You have no right to free speech on a website that is owned by someone else. If you want your free speech go start your own website. As Thaivisa pays the money to keep the servers going here, the moderation staff has the right to delete offensive posts as it deems fit. This is illustrated by the fact that after you reported my post YOUR post was deleted. Furthermore, you are not in the United States or the UK, but are, in fact, a guest of another country, and that country does place restrictions on speech. If you are unhappy with the situation, you are most free to return to whatever country where you came. As a Thai, I will speak for my people and, on behalf of my people, hereby give permission and encouragement to Tony to roam about the forest scaring monkeys like some crazed Scottsman. 1

Your examples are ludicrous...mixing up your examples with my opinion on noisy bikes and inconsiderate bikies that ride them in a National Park....it is because of people like you that cannot control yourself, that alcohol was banned in national parks....and yes I am free to return to whatever country I wish...aren't I lucky ? It is so typical that you cannot see that noise in a national park and other peaceful areas is annoying to many, same same for high beam on during the day...but you choose to blissfully ignore this and it speaks volumes in itself.
submaniac Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 The national park does not belong to you. It belongs to the Thai government, the King, and the people of Thailand, and is open to the public for everyone's enjoyment. This includes backpacking, hiking, and this includes motorcycles being allowed to tour the roads. Since the people who control the park specifically allow motorcycles to tour the park, that means that what Tony and others were doing is specifically allowed. You have no right to tell anyone not to ride through YOUR national park because of the noise. You have no right not to tell anyone not to use a national park that belongs to the people of Thailand. It is not your decision to begin with. If you want absolute tranquility, then buy several thousand Rai of land, and then you can exclude who ever you want and you can have your peace and quiet. Since you choose to live near a public park, then deal with it. If you can't then move. It's that simple.

Also show me where I said it was MY national park please ??
