Hi

I have an Asus netbook with a bad keyboard, a few letters do not work,

So i need to replace the keyboard anyway , so I was thinking of putting a Thai keyboard in it and after the trip giving it to my GF ,

So first are they available ? Probably would go to Pantip or Fortune town

and how much is it plus cost to install ?

Thanks for your help

BK

OHH and I am in the USA now so I cannot just pop over to Pantip ( bus #2 )and check for myself :)

Buy it in the states, its easy to fit yourself, there are You Tube videos to show how or go to an ASUS eee users website for instruction, its a 10 Minute Job,

In Thailand buy a pack of 20 Baht stickers that go over the US keys and y0u have a Thai English Keyboard.

I went this route as I had a problem getting a new keyboard in Thailand a few years ago, so a friend sent one over from the states.

The spare part in the States is probably half the price it would be in Thailand too.

Pantip has a TON of shops that sell laptop replacement keyboards. I bought one for a Fujitsu Lifebook for ~B1000. Considering shipping, far better than buying one in the US. It's usually a five-minute job to replace one (did it myself on the Fujitsu, although each brand/model will be different. Search Google, you may find a step-by-step for your model), and Pantip will have someone who will do it cheap.

Forget the stickers. They never look good, and attract grime around the edges, which is of course is my opinion, and not meant to drive Banzai to hari-kiri. Or seppuku.

My old Asus netbook keyboard failed and I had it replaced at the Asus service centre on the bottom floor of Fortune IT mall at the very end on the right hand side as you enter. I can't remember the exact price but it was around 500 Bt and they took about half an hour to replace it, that was with a few other people waiting for repairs also. Refreshingly good service. Good luck. This was a Thai and English keyboard by the way.

Wow 500 baht would be great , they seem to cost about $25 on ebay shipped from China

I would like to get a Thai-English keyboard and not use the stickers,

thanks for the info

Just an update ,

The Fortune IT office is closed and is now on Rama 9 right behind the new central mall,

They replaced my keyboard with a US English/Thai one for 800 baht , made sure the Thai software was installed so I can type in Thai etc ,

First class service while you wait.......well if they happen to have the parts :)

I bought the netbook with a bad keyboard so it needed to be replaced anyway , the seller was using a USB keyboard.

Over and out BK
