Kwanchai's remarks unacceptable: reds spokesman

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Leaders of the red-shirt movement on Thursday picked a quarrel with one another in the wake of the Wednesday's vote to install Thida Thawornseth as their chairwoman.

Two key leaders, Kwanchai Praipana and Chinnawat Haboonpad, were critical of the vote for Thida, arguing that they and other leaders at the regional level were left out of the voting proce

"Everything was fixed because southerners would elect their fellow southerner," Kwanchai said in reference to Thida's southern hometown.

Reds spokesman Pipatchai Paiboon countered that Kwanchai had made unacceptable slur.

Of the 30 leaders casting votes for Thida, six were from the South, Pipatchai said.

The six are Jatuporn Promphan, Kokaew Pikulthong, Worachai Hema, Worawuth Wichaidit, Yoswaris Chuklom and Pipatchai.

Pipatchai said Kwanchai should not have made unfair criticism against southerners in the movement, reminding him that it was southerners like Natthawut Saikua who helped him overcoming his legal issues and Thida who took care of him while being remanded.
