Nakhon Sawan News

Any Nakhon Sawan news, as on topic? Where people drink their everyday beer now, big c looked quiet...

I am told that the former Big C drinking school have moved to the food court/top floor of Fairyland (the smaller, old Tesco on Dawvdeong for the uninitiated). Presumably still 12.30 to 14.00 due to the stupidity of the licensing laws.

A sad commentary about the standard of daytime drinking venues in town when that is the preferred spot. The "kap kap" bar, long favoured by the TEFL fraternity has been a bit short of them on my few recent visits there. Plenty of choice mainly (but not only) round the lake at night but a bit quiet before 10 pm, and no real farang hangout that I am aware of. The "Yellow Bar" on Dawvdeong used to have a number of separate groups of farang but that too seems quieter at the moment.

For some reason I found myself travelling Sawanvittee Soi 37 a short while ago and spotted a sign for "Kasorn Beer Room", a vaguely shady looking sort of place so went in to investigate. Nothing particularly "Beer Room-ish" about it but a decent enough Thai caff, a bit different from the norm and modestly priced food and ale.

I noticed the absence of the Farang club in the big c food court as well, so its off to fairyland then, the fairy cafe I think to be precise.

The new shopping Mall aka the Walk is said to be the home of Index furniture, which I find most bewildering, why? They have a place out on the Pitsanoluk Road, nothing special, no customers when I last went so why make a move in town? There are better furniture suppliers in town to my mind for price and service, but let see what happens, Thai business remains a mystery to most of us at times.

Ready for Loy Krathong down by the riverside? Yeh!

I used Pitso Index for my kitchen and very good it turned out to be, fab quality only problem they don't do Granite work top's got those from Tak.

Took 3 of their men (Thai) 4 hour's to install and believe it or not everything was level and solid not seen better any ware.

Been in now for over two year's and still look's like new.

That could be down to the fact that I'm not allowed to use it well only for putting thing's in the cabinets. Cooking has to be done in our other kitchen a Thai one by order's of Mrs H/M.

If you had ever seen her in full flight you would know not to Disobey.

Been for a steam today at the Wat Kon Carn (?) the road home took us along the river to Sirikorn Market, once under the Detichiwong Bridge to Bangkok the amount of people set up to sell you floating candles and lanterns was incredible, how they thin think they can all make a profit is beyond Thainess, it might only work if you work for nothing.

lots of fireworks, the cats were not happy! Thailands version of Guy Fawkes night, he failed it might be more relevant if it suceeded here, what do you think?

Party is on,Lanterns as usual heading north be lucky to make Kippers, candles heading back into the Bank, Bangkok looks safe.

Tried to drop in to Nakhon Sawn last week but for some reason there was a lengthy tailback on the Highway on the North bound side.

As it was before the well vaunted bypass I decided to make a detour. After navigating our way through the moraine we decided to give up and head home.

On the way we called in at Makro in Phitsonulok. No oggies and no Cumberlands but never mind. They do have lids on their freezers though.

Myopic view of comestibles, but hygenic.

Don't know if you have used any other Makro but I have found the one in Pitso quite expensive cant comment on the one in N/S as never use it, but definitely more than K.P.P. for almost everything. Re the traffic it's always like that make's a change not to have it.

Roadworks under the Dechiwong bridge to Bangkok today to smooth out the country lane style surface, I doubt the road would be closed for long and now a fair to good surface all the way from Sirakorn Mkt end along the river to the small bridge over the river in Kosi Road, be interesting to see how long it lasts.

I've ben to a few Makro stores around Thailand but I haven't really noticed any significant differences in pricing between stores. Could be that I need to pay more attention. There's quite a variation in what foods they stock though and of the stores I've visited, the one at Hua Hin is best in my opinion.

Yes the traffic in Nakhon Sawan can be quite bad at times, but I've never seen it backed up as far as it was last week. It's quita a way from the center to the bypass and the traffic was effectively at a standstill. Perhaps there had been a bad accident or maybe the cops were making their peparations for Loi Krathong.

Went into Pitso some months ago had to go there for something else, decided to pop into Macro as had forgotten to pick up pasta sheet's in my local one, must admit it is large with plenty of stock but found everything a trite more expensive Block's of cheese were 100bt,pkg more fish 20/30pkg up almost everything a few bt extra ever potato's were 5btpkg more. All right if you don't have to shop there all the time.

Hope this go's in as think I've put it in the wrong bit. It's the cold don't you know.

I have been here long enough to remember the bypass being opened and it being mostly one lane each way and the road surface was crap even then.

Fred, you will be pleased to know that the beaches are back and tides are low again in KPP.

Sadly winter is coming and at 6 am this morning up here it was a cool and pleasant 22C and yesterday afternoon about 30 or 31C.

Thanks for that hopefully see for myself on Monday week. Cant wait to get back to the heat and Shangri La.

I know that this will please many peep's but this will be my last post on TV, got fed up with idiot's posting on it 'yes me at time's I suppose'

I hasten to add that not peep's in this section.

Met many nice peep's and received some good info thanks to all, but enough is enough got better thing's to do with my life.

A sad good buy.

Okay, that probably explains the reason for the tailback. Pleased to hear it wasn't because of a bad accident.

Generally we call in when we are passing to any Makro store that's convenient. The main things we look for are milk and butter. Butters a lot cheaper than C and Tesco. That may seem strange but the store at Phitsonulok is the nearest to us and that's a 90km round trip. However it's also a bit of a detour if we're on our way back home..Any port in a storm, as they say. The closest 7 is nearly 8km away.and as far as I'm aware, no 7 stocks decent butter.

Bill what wer you doing up at that time?

The road under the Bangkok Bridge has been finished and fully up to standard, the road roller's rollers was caked with mud so you wont be playing test cricket on it, but, a shade better than what it was, other roadworks going on, also in the same fsahion, hopefully will last to the next floods.

As we speak the H/M is being escorted through UK customs dressed in a West Ham shirt and put aboard an EVA flight to BKK, it is expected the hounds will be at the airport monday to meat him ( meat him is a KPP custom, bit like songkran but applied by dogs).

We welcome back our intrepid traveller, yes he is the one with the rosie nosey, full of English real ale, pies and Smiths Crisps ( no salt in the bag again!).

Just come back from the local annual fair.

Only one bit of violence that I saw when somebady set of a big firecracker near the stage. A showstopper literally.

Quicky squashed by the village scouts and the show restarted 15 minutes later.

All of us were tired and the kids were dropping so we quit and went home.

Don't panic H/M is now safe and well ensconced in chateau Shangri La.

Flight great, fab food, taxi/Limo waiting for me at pick up point left swampy at 4pm home having a cupper around 8pm.

Passed several hundred coaches on the way all carrying Red shirt's back up north, driver told me they had been leaving BKK by the bus load since early morning got peed orf getting their butt's kicked no doubt.

Even the N/S By-Pass didn't seem to bad. I did notice that they are doing the road north of N/S about time to as it has been crap for years. Once we passed the welcome to K.P.P World Heritage City sign it was smooth going for the rest of the way.

Just one well two minor problem's didn't take my Limo Battery off and it had gone flat now being charged. Second My CTH TV didn't work seems if you don't use it it cut's orf Cable peep's have now been to fix, all up and running you'll be glad to hear.

Getting my usual 10mb on the internet bugger me it seems slow been used to 50+ in Blighty.

Tomorrow it's hair cutting day Mrs H/M sharping the garden sheers as I tap.

Thanks for the welcome back bit.

When I put in the Post I did mean it but believe me or not have had a few PM's to ask me to come back on.

How would N/S news carry on without me I'm nearly the only peep's that posts.

I must admit that it has been a little bit quiet in your absence. Found a "slang" dictionary on the net that has OZ and British slang in it, maybe now I'll understand at least part of your posts. Am looking for a program the automatically eliminates all of the unneeded letters in the British spelling,

Sorry you don't understand correct ENGLISH will try and use your colonist rubbish in future if it make's you a "little" (Not Trite) happier might even use rout and not route, could be a bit disheartening to us proper Peep's 'Oh people' slip of the tapping there.

The hood (bonnet) is still up on 'Limo' or do you call it Chuck Wagon as still charging the battery on same.

I will endeavour to try and mix my post's in future if it so pleases.

Your up early not polishing your flint lock per chance??? a bit more sleep and it might make it easier for you to work our so called slang out.

I know it's a bit late but happy thanks giving.

There still appears to be some demos in town, east of Big C number 1 so reports are coming. Seems to be centred on Sawan Park as usual. We now go to town along the new riverside road so miss it all.

The exchange rate is good though and I dont mind if it keeps rising I can handle that.

Welcome home to the traveller, the man with the red coat and funny hat.

Is Santa Claus here already?

I have been a good boy all year and all I want is a new motorbike, a new pickup truck, an I phone oh and a mia noi.

Pretty please Santa and I promise NOT to guzzle all the sherry and eat ALL the mince pies this year.
