One arrested and guns seized following Plaza Car Park shootout in South Pattaya

PATTAYA:-- Police have arrested one suspect in connection with the deadly shooting which occurred in the car park of the Bali Hai Plaza in South Pattaya early on Saturday morning.

Police Lieutenant General Panya, Commissioner of Region 2 Police, led a press conference on Sunday to announce the arrest of Khun Giradaeshar aged 19 and the seizure of four semi-automatic handguns, one of which is thought to have been used by the deceased man, Khun Toy aged 30. The identity of further gang members involved in the shooting are known by Police who have issued arrest warrants for them.

Details from the arrested suspect, who denies direct involvement in the shooting and death of Khun Toy, reveal that an incident occurred in the Lima Lima Club on the first floor of the Bali Hai Plaza, earlier in the night where Khun Toy is alleged to have brushed past one of the rival gang members without apologizing. Nothing more was said until both groups transferred to Mixx Discotheque on the 2nd floor, later in the evening. When the venue closed the men congregated in the car park and are thought to have retrieved weapons from their cars and began shooting at each other. It has also emerged that two innocent bystanders were injured on the night but not seriously.
