You must be a real hoot to take out to dinner.

Are you referring to my restricted carbs or my slow eating habits?

Eating slow makes for a good dinner guest... and there's plenty to enjoy besides carbs. Ask Roblok. He took me out for dinner and noticed I really enjoy my food.

Eating slow.

Counting how many chews.

Analysing every ounce of food on the plate..

Pulling out all your little measuring devices to check this level and that level.

Ducking off to the toilet every hour.

Ordering some extra fat to help with an underestimated absorption level.

there is a competition of amino acids in the body...

and the winners are - CARBS... when it comes to what is transferred to the brain - and in the brain much is done what gives the sense of "feeling good" in the particular situation...

carbs - eaten together with proteins - always make the race to the brain, and the proteins are left behind...

at daytime, one can eat first proteins, and then the load of carbs, so some proteins got the chance to "get through"...

in the evening, eat carbs, that makes you sleepy and calm...

"Eating slow" - always have. No effort to do it.

"Counting chews" - don't be ridiculous.

"Analysing every ounce of food" - I don't do that. I do a rough mental calculation which is no effort at all. It's very simple to limit carbs and increase protein when eating out once you know the basics of nutrition.

"Pulling out all your little measuring devices to check this level and that level" - only done on occasion. Once you know where you're at it's effortless.

"Ducking off to the toilet every hour" - 2 or 3 times per day.

"Ordering some extra fat to help with an underestimated absorption level" - there's already enough fat in most food ordered in restaurants so no need to order more.

How did your juice fast go? Have you put it back on yet?

That's all round bad advice for anyone with insulin resistance, and the majority of 40 plus people are insulin resistant to some extent. All those bed time carbs are what you see people wearing on their waist lines. How often do you see skinny people with big guts? Ever wonder why?

Spread the carbs out over the day and never eat "loads of carbs" in one sitting. That way you have less chance of wearing them.

I go for a high protein/fat bedtime snack. More chance of steady blood sugar levels during sleep.
