At last...something to do with the Royal Flora Project in Chiang Mai.

Why not incorporate it with the loss making Night Safari and have a massive theme park......but it would have to close in February and March as you would have no idea where you were heading on the big dipper coz burning is way more important than the tourist dollarclap2.gif

So really it's a no-gocoffee1.gif

Hey, why don't you talk to the Disney Corp first.

Talk to Disney for what?

Disney may be lucky if he doesn't get charged, after the Thais build a amusement park and simply call it Disney Universe of course because they always are superior.

Bangkok already has Dream World, Siam Park and Safari World yet they do not, from what I have seen, attract foreign tourists, it is mainly locals. Would a genuine Disney park attract the foreign family holidaymaker to Bangkok? May be better in the vicinity of Phuket/Phang Nga/Krabi.

But, as many have said already, surely Disney Corp make the first move?

And for those already complaining about dual pricing when the idea has just been mooted, I believe that Florida residents get special deals at the Disney parks in Orlando.

you got to think of all the cheap copies you will be able to buy what A joke do you think disney will give thais the all clear ?

from the usa florida real world intheclub.gif

Somehow I dobt very very much that disney would put thier name to such a project in Thailand especially given thailands safety standards. Just imagine or the shoddy power cords laying on the ground all piggy backing out of the one socket. It would be a public liability disaster to the Disney Corp and someone was injured because of Thai safety practices who are they going to point the finger at, I bet the Disney Corp. Disney has to much at stake to risk lending thier name to such a Thai venture.

If the objective is to get tourists to return to Thailand maybe they could just start by being nice to them, and stop all the rip-off's that make a lot stay away.

And clean up the image it has as the worlds largest brothel. Get all the prostitutes away from public view and make it a destination that FAMILIES will want to come to and not just sex tourists.

If you remember far enough back, Disney and the government were in negotiations for a park near Kao Yai. The deal fell apart because there were to many people on the Thai side fighting to get a slice of the pie.

It was rumored that a lot of land was being aquired in Pattaya for casinos', race tracks, football and intertainment centers when the Thai Rak Thai government was in office before, it may be time to continue with the plan.

using this money to protect tourists would be a better way of spending it, thailand will NEVER be very popular with families so long as the thais turn a blind eye to all the scams, and prostitution is so ''in your face'',..... i would not take my kids to a theme park if i was paying more than a thai would pay , hate double pricing and standards ,...i like to think my kids are learning ethics , fairness, equality, respect etc and i would not be happy to answer questions on thai principles of ripping off foreigners for starters, ..........i refuse to take them anywhere if it costs more than a thai will pay .........400b to see a waterfall ?? !! , nature should be accessable to all , ...farangs will be paying to breath in thailand at this rate,..............DONT ENCOURAGE THEM !

What is depressing is going to work, literately working to bring many millions into the nation, then get home and read about useless politicians and bureaucrats and other nincompoops wastefully spending resources on outrages plans and dream-scenarios.

This is the chance for Yingluck to get tough with these fools. As soon as they get in the door show the two fools the door out!

Can you just imagine the cost overrun on this project so everyone can get their tea money? How safe the rides are going to be when nearly every major project undertaken has failed. Is it going to be built trespassing on others people land? Is it going to be underwater or above water after it rains? Is the Mafia going to run it?

What a joke!

I'll bet its not only 10percent of the price though, and have you seen the prices at siam park 120 quid for 2 adults and a child, for what!!!!!

Also, it is hilarious how they appoint these cousins to be ministers who are likely totally unqualified and they always have some childish idea like "Let's get the World Cup or Let's Get an F1 Race" when they can't even manage to control flood waters, have a stable government, enforce road or safety standards.

If you they were to allow Disney Corp. free reign than sure, the locals can be trained and the park will pass safety standards. Of course, most Thais won't be able to afford entry at one day costing 20x the minimum daily salary. And don't think there are enough Singaporeans, Japanese, Europeans and Americans who will go out of their way to visit Thai Disney instead of the Disney in their own countries. Not unless there is Mickey's Brothel w/ cosplay.

And what does the outside of Disney Land Thai look like? Tuk Tuk drivers handing out Ping Pong pamphlets and mugging families? Trash thrown everywhere? It does not seem realistic.

Who needs Disneyland when you've got Pattaya?

So true and the rides are more fun! ...Goofey is already in Pattaya, I see him every morning with Mickey in his back pocket!

Forget Disneyland and focus more on improving condtions in hotels saftey...more tourist police, airport issues. Lets leave Disney out of the land. True corruption and shabby construction will follow Disney's dream if this happens, copy right in Thai..Right to Copy..a headache for legal merchandise merchants. You as a reader get the point, if you want a Disneyland experience go to HongKong, the change will be good for you and your family...

Ah, the magical Kingdom of Fairy Tales and Make Believe!, you know, Thailand.

How about they give a fig about restoring the degraded attractions that lure people here? Tropical beaches, polluted and smothered reefs; lush jungle mountains, watch them burn! (bring your own respirator); the streets of Bangkok, thick with filth, etc, etc...

Why not set to improve the ravaged environment of this country, so people returning from their holiday inspire their friends with their stories of Amazing Thailand?

Oh, right, now it's Miracle Thailand... the stories would of how they escaped by the skin of their teeth the assaults of scammers, death by "coincidence", survived a white knuckle van ride, etc... It was a miracle I tell you!

The Disneyland here wouldn't pass the safety standards since it is hard to train the locals on safety issues.

Preventative maintenance means..remember don't fix it until it breakes..Safety standards for locals..well...let Disneyland corps spent a month going on a tour around town and see if will be possible for Thai's to correct there present saftey standards..."Mission Impossible"

It'd be a good idea. They probably mean Disney style theme park though rather than an actual Disney park. Disney already has one in HK to capture the Chinese market, not sure they need another in Thailand

Currently Cartoon Network is building a theme park in Pattaya
