lavender19
Glad to see them being put to use. Well if you can call escorting bus loads of self important people to Cape Panwa good use. Pouring with rain tonight. Accident (just happened) outside Rawai Lotus Express, blocking one side of the the road. The police car escorted said self important people around it expertly without giving the accident a second glance. What a waste of money What's the new TAT slogan. Shot
About a week ago, I was at the intersection at Central. There was a fresh accident, and the new black police car drove past it, without a glance. Guess he needed to get home and take a nap.

lavender19
When was the last time you saw President Obamas motorcade stop to help out at a traffic accident? We are talking probably government pen pushers down from Nakon Si Nowhere . Mind you. You are probably right. In America they probably would drive by an accident without stopping
FlyByNights
I like the cars, it also makes Phukets’ image look in shape at the same time. To some folks perception is reality. A good police budget, clean cars, safe place, and most of all the smiling faces everywhere you turn. This can lead to a wonderful holiday experience here on this great island, if they can stay out of trouble that is.. It would have been a shame if the BIB saw an accident in their brand new shiny little cars and did not stop to render help. If they did see and didn’t stop, they probably had their own personal reasons. Elite motorcade, lunch.etc? Whatever Whatever.... Off the topic a little, but last I heard in order to be a police officer here in Thailand they need to have some type of upper education to become employed. Is it not a 2 or 4 year college degree? Please someone correct me if I’m wrong. Regardless if they are from Nakon Si Nowhere, they deserve a pay raise! FYI: Some people don’t get out of bed for less than 500,000 USD per day in some places hehehe....."I heard that in some movie I saw the other day". What makes one think that they want to waste their own money on gas every day on a 8K BHT monthly salary. I think these units will mostly be displayed in strategic locations, not driven around too much after 5PM. Maybe they are reserved for "Senior" individuals. Please don't tell me that the Farang police volunteers are driving these things are they? Anyways, "It's up to them, Not up to you! " Nice cars, but I prefer their Camarys'

" Nice cars, but I prefer their Camarys' I like those Camry's also more then the little Mazda's. The police officers i spoke told me that they don't really like to new Mazda'a 2 as they are to small. No open space in the back where they can put the "arrested" people. And no, The Farand Police Volunteers are not allowed in those police cars or in any other Thai goverment car in fact. There is PLENTY of space in the back of a Mazda 2. I've sat in one heaps of time. I reckon you could get at least 6 Thais in there plus a couple in the boot if you took the cover off. Farangs...3 max.

Some time ago I made a call to police, they came to check things out with somebody in the back. I checked that out while the missus sorted things out with the cops. seaeagle
New cars - same old police attitude. Was behind one of these new police cars earlier today, when out of the blue, from behind me, came a normal-size pick-up truck, but with 4 huge customized tires each the 'size of a house'. It sped and weaved left and right through the traffic, passing the police car, and passing all cars in front of that. One of the worst examples of dangerous driving, in a big vehicle, that I've seen here. Did the police do anything? Give chase? Of course not. A total disregard for the law, and disrespect for the police, from the truck driver. And total ambivalence by the police in their 'job' to maintain road safety. Can't wait for the speed cameras to be installed!!
lavender19
So basically <deleted> was all this money spent on these cars for? And yes I have probably contribute to these posing vehicles as I pay tax here. Could also do with some red cameras here as today some knob in a fortuner went through Central lights at about 100 k 3 secs after lights turned red nearly took out a load of bikes. geriatrickid
One was parked outside a Bangla bar this afternoon. Facing the wrong direction. Perhaps the chap had to check on his bar or collect some "taxes".
