Its a high pressure bubble surrounded by low pressure system. hence it's hot and stormy... should pass in a week

low pressure usually involves clouds and precipitation, no?

it looked to me that it was IMPOSSIBLE for any clouds to form

with only haze in sight

as WEIRD as this sounds

this is the closest thing to possible weather modification i have witnessed first hand

it was a MOST unusual sky for about a week

eerie and somewhat unnatural looking

Where is that weather station? The temperatures and humidity in Cosy Beach are nothing like the ones listed on the site. The humidity is much lower.

The local weather station is on Pratumnak Hill, not far from the entrance to Royal Cliff and thus quite close to Cosy Beach. Mind you, it is about 200' above sea level, which might account for the difference.

Thanks, I know the place you mean - there's a digital thermometer outside which displays the current temperature. I'm about 200m from there.

quite the sky right now

started about 2 am

Any chance of telling us what you mean?

there was quite the sky show

multiple lightening occurrences

spread all across the sky

all 99% inaudible some looking much less than 10-20 miles away

with some horizontal lightening no where near touching a ground

of a muted atypical color

and some long straight lines

i can not tell if this is somewhat unusual behavior or completely normal

of course as soon as i posted it started to die down but prior to that it really made me wonder

With a high pressure system that's stalled, often you get an inversion layer.

Highs are big blobs of cold air that fall from the sky right. But, it can trap warm air underneath, stopping it from rising. You might also have noticed the lack of wind. Hot air rises (it is light = low pressure) and pulls in other air, creating thermal winds, but this time it couldn't rise.

So, we had warm air trapped under cold air, which, means low or no wind, moisture laden air which makes it really hot and hazy.

The warm air is compressed by the (heavy cold) high above, so it feels really oppressive, sometimes hard to breathe - the normally light hot air became heavy hot air.

I am pleased it seems to have moved away.
