Hi To All

good luck!

But I recommend, also have a look at the other places in Thailand. I am here since 4 years (but half of your age) and for me Pattaya is the worst place to stay.

Only if you are a Sex-o-holic it might be the first choice.

if you have 5 month, have a look at Phuket, Koh Samui, Chang Mai. Maybe you like some of the places better than Pattaya.

Hi my name is whittler/ aka mike, I live in the USA, Indiana. I am 64

retired, and next year I am going to make a test run of 5 months to

Pattaya to see if I would like to live in LOS.

Chances are if you test run any place for 5 months, you'll end up staying there cos you would have gotten used to it.

Like me, I'm "stuck" in Hatyai.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I will give you a little background. I come

from Aurora Indiana, my first trip out of the country ever was 2002, to Thailand

1 week to Bkk, couldn't take the air (I have asthma) 3 weeks to Pattaya. I owe

my trip to my son, but that's another story. If you are interested I will tell you

about it another time. I loved it so much I went back in 2003 and 2005. My problem is I tend to stick close to the people and places I know. This last time

I stayed at Peace Resort on North Rd. & Dolphin Roundabout. It was really nice

being out of all the action, but not too far. I have a lot of dumb questions, and

I am excited as hel_l, this will be the first time I will be on my own, ever. So if I

get crazy just tell me to chill.

I am pretty new with computers, so if I do something wrong just tell me, like

what section to post in. I will start now. Most of my questioons will be about

Pattaya in the begining. Do I go to the Pattaya section?? Also when looking at apts. what area is Pattaya in, East ????

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Hi whittler, just be cool... This is a great forum, just float around and get to know it first. Visit a number of areas, post a few thoughts. Don't worry, if you post something in the wrong section, it can be moved. When in doubt post in the general section.

If you're wondering whether or not it should be a local forum or not, ask yourself if general or specific (ie local) knowledge would be of most help.

I agree with all the posters saying see a few other places before making up your mind. Visiting is different from living there.

Whatever you choose to do I hope you have a wonderful time.

don't worry, they worst thing you can make wrong is that you close the window, but forgot to press "Add reply" and you need to type everything again.....

everything else is no problem at all.....

Have a good time in pattaya or whereever you settle and the forums are great for all the dumb problems which come earlier or later (where I get english TV, can I trust that company, how to go in the internet in Thailand and so on......).

I learned a lot from asking in the forum and 99 % of the forum members are nice guys....
