Thai Meteorological Department

Featured Replies

The department seems to produce some interesting statistics, like the 30 year averages.

The 30 years runs from 1961 to 1990.So on that basis the information is now 12 years out of date.

I have emailed the Dept suggesting more update information would be relevant, not only for the farming

community but Travel and general interest.NO REPLY, NOW IN THE TO HARD BASKET!

Am I, a loner on this issue .? How can one obtain an update. The daily figures are a reasonable guide, but like every forcast in the world,

it can be rather HIT OR MISS. Comments please

You are right the forecasts can be a bit misleading. I tend to believe Billy Connelly when he said once, "If you want to know what the weather is like, take a look out the F@#king window!"

It could even be 22 years out of date, sorry I see it is from 1971 to 2000. I used to look at the weather radars and there was one for Rayong which just sort of reached my place but now its gone and there is ony Swampy which doesn't reach.

Its been my experience you dont get a response to e-mails here unless its about insurance.

I notice the mean annual rainfall figures include 2011 and one 30 year chart actually has data from 1951-2011. So its a bit all over the place. I record rainfall here but I haven't got 30 years I just wanted to know the date swings between the onset of the wet season in different years. As to what to do I have no great idea. Perhaps nothing?
